Has anybody ever cast a Sigil or a spell to help with psychological problems?

I know somebody who is troubled (OCD) and who has asked me (I am not qualified enough to answer but he knows I dabble with Magick) whether I could cast a Sigil or help them formulate one that will bring a resolution to his problems.

Pretty loathe to do so, without care and consideration. I have explained to this person that Magick can sometimes take a strange route and he should really stick to his therapist. He then asked me whether I could ask for a speedy recovery via his therapist

I couldn't really argue with this. He is basically asking me to help him forge a Sigil that will ask the Universe to bring him relief from his woes VIA HIS THERAPY......but to just speed the process along.
Obviously, this will karmically impact on his therapist who might be deprived of more money but the gentleman's plight and pain is awful to see and I am thinking of intervening.

I am considering this and I wonder if any of you can see or think of any pitfalls (I would be very careful how I worded the intent to ensure that nothing is missed or I would attempt to leave no stone unturned). Losing the intent might be tricky with such a recurring problem but I want to at least try for the guy

To protect the therapist, possibly the Sigil could be worded in such a way to grant the therapist the tools to affect (lasting and effective) rapid change.

That way, whilst he would lose ONE client, he would get a better reputation and by word of mouth, he would presumably get more clients in the long run

in this scenario , everybody would win as far as I could see

Wat do you think?

You worry too much.
Especially about the therapist. Who cares if he looses money? His job is to heal patients as fast as possible. He might loose money on a speedy recovery, but if he'd rather that the patient took ages to get better, so he could milk him, he's slime.
The thing about giving the therapist greater abilities, however, does sound like a good idea. Like you said: win-win.

Thanks for the kind words

I am glad you agree that this might be a win/win situation

I will call the fella tonite and ask him to come around to construct a valid and viable intent statement

thanks

Your friend is turning to you as the tribal shaman. Step into the role and indulge it. I wouldn't worry about the "via hir therapy" part... I'm sure they'd be happy to get well no matter regardless of the route. You don't have to divulge the specifics of your working to your friend, just do a solid working for their general wellness and evolution into a whole being.

One thing to keep in mind with sigil work is that on one level, what you are doing is by crafting and charging a sigil, you are programming your own subconsious to bring about the desired effect. See, sometimes your subconscious is thus tricked into working S0rc3ry on your behalf, sometimes its just metaprogramming of your own behavior to bring about the results in less flashy ways. But either way, the metaprogramming aspects of sigil work are mighty.

To do this right, he'd have to do the sigiling. By that, the process of declaring intent in a concise and clear way, the writing of it in some form, and the crafting of that writing into a Symbol Of Power that represents this desire on a deeply undeniably magickly way to them. They have to be able to look at the sigil and Know in their deepest darkest heart of hearts what it means. Its that hook that lets sorcery work, and that same hook that is a mighty tool for self change. If they can get that far, charging and banishing the sigil will have the effect of programming themselves to change their behavior, and will have some results. But you, as Cha0s Sha|\/|@n, have to pretty much teach them how to do it themselves for this sort of thing to work right. I mean, sure, you can ensorcel something for them, and that might help indirectly (probably by you finding helpful things to say to them, path of least resistance and all), but it'll be a hundred times more effective if they do it for themselves.

Makes sense

thanks cusm yet again

I'm glad I don't have to ask the hypnotherapist to do the Sigilising!

This brings up some interesting points.

So the act of casting off a Sigil is a personal thing. Therefore, it might NOT be that the Therapist actually gets any better or more skilled but that my friend will be more receptive to his treatment owing to his new subconscious belief that the guy has the tools necessary?

(BY THE WAY, I KNOW YOU ARE NOT JUST SAYING THIS, YOU LEAVE A LITTLE 'WIGGLE' ROOM IN YOUR POST THAT ALLOWS FOR THE SIGIL TO ACTUALLY AFFECT CHANGE IN OTHERS/THE UNIVERSE.....IT ALL DEPENDS I SUPPOSE ON WHAT PARADIGM YOU FOLLOW.......AS OTHERS HAVE STATED TO ME ON HERE, I SHOULD TRY AND WATCH FOR THE RESULTS INSTEAD OF THEORISING)

So basically the results should speak for themselves.

Excellent

Well, I try to be aware that there are two sides to it. Sigilization is an act of programming of your subconscious, by the very nature of the process. It is also an intent for outward sorcery and an act of Magick. I think the ways in which these two things are related run very deep indeed. This is just one situation where the internal effects might be more effective than the external ones.
