Pan Sonic + Noto/Alva Noto

two questins in one really. i've listened to Pan Sonic for ages thinking there was no other music like it anywhere (call me stupid) until i discovered Noto/Alva Noto and realised what i had been missing.
so, the questions are....
1. what genre do they play in?
2. who else plays music like them?
i love both these 'bands' and would love to find more of this kind of stuff. i could check out the Raster Noton label (Noto's label) but what i'm looking for is some personnel recomenmdations, please.

1. I don't think there are enough people making stuff like this for it to be considered a genre. Perhaps 'broken drum machine music' will suffice?

2. Pole is the most obvious one (he uses some of Pan_sonic's equipment, including the famous broken drum machine that is featured on most of his rhythm tracks). There are similar sounds in some of the releases on the Profan, Klang, Max/Ernst labels (and more accessable poppy takes on similar sounds on Kompakt and Playhouse). More info here.
