Multiple search results pages missing...

Hello. I've been trying to do some searches in order to catch up on stuff I've missed out on, but the search results page doesn't seem to allow one to view all pages, only 1-10. I've searched to see whether someone else has mentioned it, and found this thread that petered out into nothing (of course, there could have been more in the other 52 threads it found, but I couldn't look at them).

Any idea why this is happening?

Isn't it just that the option to move through pages of results isn't present? I guess that back in the day nobody thought we'd ever have more than ten threads on one subject.

This is one that keeps on popping up. Tom? Is there anything you can do about it, or is it one of those that we're stuck with for a while longer?

On the other hand, of course, we now have a rather new useful mechanism in play! Try going to Google, typing in site:www.barbelith.com and then your keywords and you should find at least some of the pages you're looking for...

OK, went to google and did that...seems to work, but only if you remember to ask it to repeat the search with the omitted results included. In my test, this expanded the results from one page with nine links to ten pages of results.

How would I go about having this added to the Barbelith FAQ? It's something people should know how to do, especially considering the advice re: searching to see whether a thread already exists before creating one.

The FAQ is a Wiki: that means that you (yes, you) can make changes and additions to it yourself!

Could someone keep an eye on the Wiki then and PM me if I'm screwing anything up? Never done something like this before and while I think I can stop something bad happening, you never know...

...No it can't, because I went in and changed the title of the page to SeachingTheBoard, which seems to have wiped the page I wrote. Can someone please rescue the old one? Somehow? Anyhow? Or do I have to write everything all over again?

Whew...not that's how I spell relief. But can someone who's more versed in wiki please change the page title? FindingStuff might not be the best option. Or shall we just leave it and let people figure it out?

I wonder -- is it possible to just make the "search" link go to a Google page already set up with "site:www.barbelith.com" and "include omitted results" on it?
