We've gone a few weeks without a new episode and I hear the ratings are sucking. Is it going to be canceled? I'm worried.

Arrested Development is probably my favorite sitcom of all time, so I will definitely post a lot to this thread later on. But for now: No, it is not being cancelled...YET. Fox has made a commitment to airing the complete first season, of which there remains ten more episodes in addition to what has already aired. The next episode airs this Sunday night at 9:30, and is the one with Heather Graham as a guest star. An upcoming episode (featuring Amy Poehler, the wife of Will "GOB" Arnett!) will air after an episode of American Idol, which should boost the ratings a bit.

If Fox just put some promotion into AD and aired immediately following the Simpsons, I am sure that the show would be in a much better way right now. They'd be crazy to kill it now, though - it's still building buzz. If Fox plays their cards right, they could have a cult show on the level of Seinfeld on their hands.

This show is officially on a nigh-unstoppable roll. After last Sunday's Pop Bluth's "Get your fucking hands off me" to Tobias and now Sunday's Annyong/G.O.B. Meltdown ("For theLOVeofGodSomeoneTellThatINSUFFERABLE--"), well, is there anything funnier on TV?

I adore this show.

The good thing is--Gail Berman, Ron Howard and the rest of Fox really seem to like it, too. I only hope they're smart enough to shuffle it around to a better slot and advertise the hell out of it and waiitttt. I admit, it is more challenging than the average show, since you actually have to *listen* and *watch* or you'll miss a hell of a lot.

The bad thing is--Fox isn't making the typical season lineup announcements in May, although the cast may know then.

Portia de Rossi said recently she may be unduly optimistic, but she's not worried. She thinks they'll get an order for more beyond the first season. And, it was intimated somewhere (I can't remember) this week, that no matter what happens, a DVD of this season's almost sure to be released.

Honestly, I don't find it that funny. It's my younger brother's favorite show and he's always telling me to watch it, but I haven't been very impressed.

Douche-Chill!

And so the first season ends with a quotable bang. Only a show this good could take such a simple premise (Take Your Daughter To Work Day) and milk such deft comedy from it.

So many moments, but perhaps my favorite was George Michael's "Oh yeah, maybe I should start wearing a bra!"

Douche-Chill!

There are so many levels on which I am absolutely bowled over about the quality of this set. Most remarkable, though, is how impressive it is that you can pretty much tell who everyone is just by looking at their shoes. Try that with Frasier. Just goes to show you how truly awesome and well-constructed and conceived this show truly is.
