For the past few months, I have been exploring different spritualites due to my exposure to the Invisibles series.
Being orignally a comic book fan who is an art-school majoring n animaton I also have a vested interest and hobby in creating superheroic characters how potential future projects, and just for fun.
In my research in spiritualities(note that I've always had an effinity to maythoplogy, religion, things like that, since young childhood), I have been very interested in getting into Chaos Magick, Since it seems like the most free and broad form of magick, and also as I am Interested in meeting the original core archetypes that I fnd within superheroes('m a fanboy; so sue me). I have been VERY interested in the things Grant Said in interviews about channelng the Superman energy. I have particular interest in Superman because I sort of feel an affinity for him becasue I am a Leo
(Lion/Sun sign, and Superman is an incarnation of the Sun God Archetype(from which Jesus, Apollo, Balder, PKD's Valis[and therefore Morrison's Barbelith entity], Osirus and by favorite, Horus/Ra, coime).
Recently, I have been havng lucid visualzations and dreams about the being from which one of my favorite characters, Superman is a modern incarnaton of. In these dreams I saw a Lion/Man like being wth Wings. At first i thought was being influenced by Aslan from the Lion Witch and Wardrobe books, the Narnia series, who is another analog for Christ/Sun God entity).
One thing that has been a mystery to me is who the Sun God being Mithras was. I had read from a book in the local New Age/Magick store thathe was a being who predated Christ yet had nearly the exact same story as him.
Today, about ten minuted ago now as I write this, I had started the first actual research into Mithras himself through Google. I went to this page:http://www.well.com/user/davidu/mithras.html
then scrolled down and saw THIS image:

That something very smilar to what I have been dreaming and imagining in searching for some sort of Sun God/Superman type being for my fictional universe, despite My never ever having seen anythng about Mithras besides reading s that sad he was a Christ analog and the predated it.

What in HEAVENS name is going on?
P.S.(I'm completely stoned. Yes, I know that this might mean I'm just tripping, but honestly, I'm a veteran of smoking pot, and things like this don't happen with me usually.) |
