This my font book in Panther. Inside the font book is the font 'Enochian'.

See? It is there, I can see it and it's turned on and it's totally right. Right?

And I've checked in all my font folders (users/library/fonts, library/fonts and even in the classic font folder and it's there. So why won't any of my applications see it? I've never had an issue with adding fonts before and I've tried turning the font off and on again and I've tried restarting my machine.

Randomly, I had a serious urge to title this thread 'The Font of all Knowledge' but luckily I managed to restrain myself. [End Threadrot]

I can't help at all but I'm just pleased there's an Enochian font. What are you using it for? Perhaps you need to recite the appopriate angelic call.

Well I considered that...but I'm not sure who the appropriate Angel would be...

Ah. The appropirate Angel would be Blandine, Archangel of Dreams.

Anyway, we digress.

I don't know the answer but i'm having a similar problem getting installed fonts working on my copy of quark 4.1 (which of course can only run in the mac classic environment)

Could the font be corrupt? Regardless of a preview, it might still be buggy. I haven't really messed with Panther's FontBook, but I know that it's used for general font management and doesn't replace professional font tools like Suitcase. In fact if you have a way to get your hands on Suitcase, I'd recommend that app.

I'd also see that you have the latest Panther updates installed via your software update...

Here's also a knowledge-base article from Apple with a possible lead on font usage in classic apps.

Er, you’ve got some pens, haven’t you? And a scanner, and qualifications in art, and black belt computer-fu. Why can’t you just make the font yourself, right now? Wouldn’t it actually be quicker than faffing around with all this clickkety-click and restarts and hard-drive interrogations and stuff? If you stop giving your computer so much attention when it has a ‘problem’, it wouldn’t pull shit like this.

I'm new here (hello) but I've had similar problems with various fonts after purchasing a new mac when the fonts just looked bitmapped in quark 5.

If you're in the classic enviroment check under control panels and see if AYM is in there somewhere. chances are it ain't so…

…try downloading ATM Lite and installing it. You'll need it to make your fonts appear in the Classic Environment, even though suitcase is in OS X or whatever.

it worked for me. apologies if this isn't helpful at all.

good luck!
