Remember in New X-Men when they talked about the artificial world Weapon Plus was growing people in? Check this out

I love synchronicities like this, just thought I'd throw it out there. I would have put it in the lab part of the board, but I wanted to make sure the X-Men fans saw it. If any modoraters feeling like moving it though, no worries

It's unlikely to be synchonicity - Morrison is a regular reader of New Scientist and keen follower of new developments in science which he uses as inspiration and to add colour to his work.

That or somebody in the military read those New X-Men issues and got inspired.

This has been a military project for years, hence the reason that only a part of Kuwait City has so far been modelled - as far as I'm aware it was begun around the time of the Gulf War. One of the space shuttle Columbia's roles was to photograph the earth from space in order to map the simulated 3D landscapes onto this model.

It's part of Rumsfeld's ongoing 'swarm theory' of warfare, making each military unit - soldier, team, vehicle etc - independent from but simultaneously reinforcing the group through 24-7 wireless networking, keeping the units in constant communication with each other and the Pentagon. They are then shown as graphics on this model, which replicates the physical landscape over which they're moving.

As far as I can tell, The World is in part inspired by Ellis' Planet Fiction, which was dedicated to Morrison and features a similar environment, which is itself an extension of Morrison's idea of fiction suits.

RE: New X Men Synchronicities;

Greetings, All. This is my first post to Barbelith. I haven't seen anything else about this, so I will post the info here.

The November 2003 issue of GM's New X Men comic was the first issue of the "Planet X" story arc. This involved Magneto's plan to reverse the Earth's magnetic poles, effecting a "World Upside-Down" -- Planet X. You will remember the upside-down map of the world from the storyline.

Here's where it gets weird: search for "planet x" with google and you will find information for whats usually called Planet X Theory, which
imagined that sometime during the year 2003(!) yet to be discovered planet would appear.

It goes on to say that this new planet would come close enough to earth to possibly disrupt things like tidal behavior and cause the earth's magnetic poles to switch(!).

And, as you may recall, in mid-November of 2003, a planetoid, now called Sedna, was discovered - the 10th and furthest planet orbiting our Sun, Planet X!

I'm not very educated in Kabbalah and the Tree of Life, but maybe someone else would like to expand on these ideas and also talk about the 'missing' or 'hidden' sephiroth, Daath, and how it may/may not relate to the 'discovery' of another 'planet'. (sorry about all the
quotation marks!) Thanks!

though this isn't really science related (moreso synchronisty related), i find it incredibly scary that just prior to the September 11 attacks, we see GM create an awesome scene with Magneto being taken down by a sentinel flying fist in ish. 115 (i think?), somewhat reminiscent of the Twin Tower plane bombings. Creepy.

wow! i didnt realize that it was a sentinel fist. thats pretty cool . but, to add to the frightnening synchronicity, its a fist with airplane mods: appropriate vehicle, transform into projectile. also, the scene right below looks very Times Square, y/n?
