this Friday sees It Came from the Sea (who's got a longer club name
than us? NO ONE'S got a club name longer than us!) reach the first
milestone on its exciting journey towards acceptance, compromise,
inertia and eventual death. it's our birthday! and we want YOU to
blow out our eternal candle! also: we've looked into it and, don't
worry, the weather's going to be fine.
traditionally, between 10 and 11 we play a no-compromise megamix of
new songs that might not rock dancefloors, but do explode with ideas,
attitude and fun: IT'S THE VANGUARD OF THE AVANT-GARDE. and now, to
drag y'all slothful asses halfway into the groove before the pubs
close, we're upping the ante: and because we HATE MONEY, we're
offering CHEAP COCKTAILS (ooh la la) for the duration of what may be
(who can say) the greatest hour of yr life (details at end of mail).
at which point... the tables will groan under the weight of the most
attitude-heavy (yet light and fluffy) fairy cakes you have ever
seen... the bubble machine will be turned to eleven... we will screen
the grrreatest hits of a year of arthouse disco cinema... there will
be outrageously fresh, hot future hits from LCD SOUNDSYSTEM, MISSY
ELLIOT, STELLASTARR*, FRANZ FERDINAND, N.E.R.D, BASEMENT JAXX, JAY-Z,
DFA, BUMBLEBEEZ, SPEKTRUM, SCISSOR SISTERS, KELIS, FANNYPACK, PINK
GREASE, blah blah, blah blah... you know the drill. frankly, if you
need us to persuade you, don’t bother. we’ll live. it’s our party and
we’ll cry if we want to.
