As something of a doyen on the back-to-back all-nighter (bad choices at college)...
Coffee. Lots of it. But don't start drinking it until you are sleepy, and don't drink it for a couple of days before the big night if possible, or you will develop an immunity. Drink lots of water in between coffees.
Very hot, steamy showers are better than cold ones, as they relax the muscles around the eyes which are what will really be punishing you by breakfast-time.
Eat. Constantly. Keep topping up your system, with little bits of high-enrgy food. Chocolate is good - little energy to eat. But don't overdo the chocolate or the sense of well-being will screw you up. Also, it will do yet more damage to your skin.
Moisturise the your hands, or the itching and burning will be distracting.
Turn the heating on, and open the window - you can't let the room get too warm, but your body will start to lose heat and feel chilly. If possible, go for walks outside. When I lived in halls, I found a hot shower every two hours or so followed by air-drying on the walk back to my room through the cold night air very useful. While you are out walking, take the opportunity to alter your focal length.
Anything more i think of, I will pass on.
Oh, and don't forget to swear!
P.S. Before I had to rejoin the outside world, I used to shave - very refreshing - and brush my teeth, then splash some cold water on my face to reduce puffiness. A cooling eye mask, if such things had been available, would also have been very useful. But don't put it on lying down, or in a comfortable chair, or you're screwed. |
