Hi. I'm looking for as much information as possible on this subject. If any of you know anything about this stuff, I mean anything, just throw it down.

That's a pretty broad subject you've got there, what are you talking about? Aztec? Maya? Inca? Santeria? Candomble? Palo?

Well there's a ton of stuff here including at least one e-book : Sacred texts

Also i found these :

Philtar
Metareligion
Santeria
Santeria Practical Guide

Like Gypsy Lantern said though, it is a broad subject. South American Religion, Folklore and Godforms covers a lot of different things.

There's a book that you often see in shops like Borders called Magic from Brazil - written by an American woman who's name I can't remember

As GL says, you're not asking for much are you?

If you want a simple but useful general intro to Pre-Columbian cultures(which I'm rather presuming is what you want, ie from the cultures of S/C.America pre-columbus' arrival. there's also of course, a lot of more modern stuff).

Most pre-col cultures have very iconographic religions, so art/architecture tell you loads about religious practice/cosmology etc) try the Thames and Hudson World of Art titles: Art of the Andes and The Art of MesoAmerica. Dead easy reading, and with useful bibliogs.

These are obviously not so much practical as historical/cultural background, but perhaps a good place to start?

Cheers--- yeah, this is a huge subject area. Sorry about that- thought it might give "scope" if you see what i mean

Another thing that might help us narrow things down is your objective in wanting the information.

Well, basically it's a personal interest based on the fact that though I live in england my family go back to south america. Also I couldn't find a similar post whilst searching barbelith so i figured this one would be there for anyone else interested.

Well why don't you shrink this down a tiny bit by telling us where your people come from. We'll cover the religion and folklore of that area and move spherically from there.

Where do your parents come from? Which country? That would be of some help.
