Apparently the is a DJ who has remixed the Beatles White album with Jay-Z's black album to produce 'the Grey Album'

But EMI are not happy about it.

So what do people think ? Has anyone heard this new Hip Hop offering?

DL'ed it from http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html
last week..., DJ Dangermouse, an acquaintance from Athens GA, has made several other spectacular album length projects under the names Dangermouse and Pelican City. This one is getting him some heavy attention, people debating the merits, the artistic content, his rights to the material. An interesting idea, and a very savvy marketing move. I'm not really a fan of the Jigga man myself, but the mix definitely works. Would definitely not listen to Jay-Z in another context. Strike a blow for cut-and-paste art, I suppose. It's sort of like a dare to other bedroom-producer types out there to attempt their own fawning reworkings. It's definitely the work of a fan, someone who appreciates the beatles and Jay-Z equally, which may be the most interesting "statement" the project seems to make. Other issues I've seen brought up include the validity of copyright law and the "public domain;" it also contributes to the never ending rant against the RIAA. Comments?

Keith, etc.-
Thanks for the redirect; your thread seemed to lack interesting discussion , so I've added some. Let's see if we can't get some people to talk about the album, eh?

"Want me to talk about it?

Thanks for the detailed, enlightening reply.
Working on your birthday fucking sucks; getting splashed by cars on the way to work on a rainy day, that I can see sucking. Boybands, yeah, they suck. This album, it's hard for me to agree to a blanket, throw away statement like this. Defend your position!!!
Why does it suck, and how do you feel, aside from its suckiness, about the greater issues the project represents, some of which were brought up here and others that are discussed in the other Grey Album thread. Do you like other Dangermouse stuff?
How do you feel about this type of sampling project? Valid? Criminal? How do you think this artifact of teh suck will influence (if at all) the world around us? It's definitely become a discussion topic online, so there must be something there? Bio K9, can you go deeperr than "it sucks" ?
