Oh, and also the title "Interview with the Vamp Liar"...

Doesn't that refer to Bree Timmin's interview where she lied about caring for a bubble boy? Didn't it get outed in a newspaper that ep?

NEIGHBOURS EVIL TWIN SAGA SPOILERS

I missed some episodes and am not sure 100% how they set this up but: Paul Robinson (who seems to be less evil since various attempts on his life, which makes him a Tweener in wrestling jargon by the way) has identical twin adult sons Robert and Cam. When they were kids, Cam and (sister) Elle mercilessly picked on Robert, notably compiling a list of his character flaws they called The Freak Files, plus presumably it was no picnic being Paul's kid, so he turned out Pyscho. In fact, the ads always refer to him as 'Psycho Robert', just so you don't miss the point. Ironically, this recalls the many cruel nicknames Elle and Cam came up with for young Robert, which caused his antisocial behaviour in the first place. He is driven by an overwhelming desire for revenge against his family.

To this end, after causing last season's plane crash (which failed to kill any Robinsons unless I'm forgetting someone), Rob put Cam in a coma so he could assume his identity and get close to his targets. His ultimate plot has remained unclear although we know it is Evil from the clues he drops when he goes to have one-sided conversations with his comatose twin. He got Paul's protege, Dylan, fired, by sabotaging some shelving he was installing - almost killing Steph's baby, Charlie, in the process! Recently the ads teased an amazing secret weapon, which turned out to be an ipod, with which he edited audio clips of Izzy speaking about her relationship with Paul to make it sound like she was making a pass at Cam.* A devastated Paul threw her out, tragically, just as she was finally ready to tell him she was in love with him.

However, all is not going well with Psycho Robert's Evil Plans. Dylan and Izzy both know something's up. And as mentioned upthread, he has fallen in love with the spunky young Katia - the first time he has felt close to another human being. (Of course, she is not really in love with him, but his successful imitation of his hated brother.) Since this is a distraction from his mission, he decided to kill her during a picnic in a forest (one of the many in suburban Melbourne, I assume). But just as he was preparing for the kill Katia accidentally lost her footing and fell part way off the cliff - and lovestruck Robert couldn't help but save her. She has since almost stumbled onto his Evil plans several times, leading him to concoct more and more unconvincing explanations. Luckily for him, Katia has low expecations of men due to her time as a IV-drug addict and prostitute.

Meanwhile! Connor's ex-girlfriend Carmella, now a novice-nun, has returned to Ramsay St to test her faith before she takes her vows. But - she has also been tending the comatose Cam at the hospital and, presumably, will blow Psycho Robert's cover if she happens to see him. Plus, when Dylan was fired and figured out something was not right with Robert, he hired Connor (who works as a private detective) to follow him, and so Connor knows that he regularly visits same hospital. (If I ever hire a PI to follow someone and he says 'Nothing to report. He just goes to some hospital every day,' 'What does he do there?' 'I dunno, visit someone I guess,' I will be asking for my money back. Although I suppose if he has a cute accent like Connor's I might let it pass.) I am amused that Robert's meticulously detailed plan included putting his brother in a coma in a hospital in Erinsburgh. It's hard to see how that could backfire.

SPOILERS END

I think that's most of it. But yeah, you should be most excited about Lou's Russian internet girlfriend who is now chewing up scenery at an alarming rate.

* Thanks to hellbunny in the Het 101 for explaining the proper use of this phrase to me.

Jackie Susann - I think Cam, Robert and Elle are actually the triplets that Paul and Gayle had in the Kylie/Charlene era of Neighbours.

That's what i assume anyway.

How funny was it last week when Lou's "Russian" girlfriend was making borscht, or at least something she called borscht, but it was served on plates (i.e., not in bowls, not being soup) and she talked about getting the sauce right.

I know! I was totally on the edge of my seat when the good twin was hiding in the shadows with the metal pole. 'Hit him! Hit him!' My housemate thought I had lost the plot.

I was actually a little disappointed after the first scene. (SPOILERS) When you saw the good twin open his eyes and rub the spot where he'd been pinched, I had this flash of excitement that actually he'd only been pretending to be in a coma for the last couple of months and secretly heard EVERY WORD Psycho Robert said. What is actually supposed to have happened makes like no sense whatsoever but I guess its churlish to complain about that kind of thing.

Meanwhile, what happened to Connor? I assume he isn't really dead.

Augury, I didn't catch an episode all last week. What have I missed? Esp. re. the twins and the blog-for-profit scheme.

Jackie - you've clearly figured out Neighbours is a deeply entrenched part of my daily ritual. Now, remembering it on the other hand...

Hmmm - boring blog plotline... um Boyd's GF caught Toady and Katya kissing, and she was all like "Gah! He's breaking character, he's not meant to do that."

But Boyd was like "No, it's a fugly guy going for someone way out of his league. That's heaps funny." Boyd's GF agreed.

EvilTwin - EvilTwin (now living at home with Paul, Gail {she got *really old*} and Izzy) is pretending to be nonEvil Rob and was going along rather convincingly. But then, he caught Paul and Gail making out - and went all psycho and started planning a private picnic for him and Paul.

Meanwhile Katya went to see GoodTwin (in jail) who everyone thinks has turned Evil. Katya realises that this is not the twin she had a mega-disturbing relationship with. She tries to tell everyone but they all think she's cuh-razy!!!

Connor is still missing, and people *still* haven't noticed.

(Oh - and if you care? Susan and Karl are pashing on again, and Karl and Jenny broke up {in the most unconvincing break up ever}. )

Oh hey - is anyone else watching Aussie Big Brother this year?

I caught it last night and was shocked to see Karl and Susan having public sex in broad daylight! Fucking hell.

(But no, I haven't been watching BB this year.)

According to my TV guide - we have to wait until Friday's ep to see more psycho twin action... ripped off!

But - the ep does involve a mineshaft trapping, as this storyline delves deeper into daytime soap pastiche.

Gentlemen Prefer Blogs just been shown here in the UK. So I guess that puts us only about 2 and a half months behind. At the rate we're catching up, surely we'll eventually be ahead of Australia...?

Neighbours is an important lunchtime event at my work. There is much concern for Connor's whereabouts... So, does he ever turn up?

There are vague mutterings about him being
a) buried in a rose garden
b) travelling overseas after his wallet is returned from some foreign embassy

The writers seem to have forgotten about him presently
