Bastard boy born of Billy Burroughs but bereft of bling.

Egregious alliteration aside, like an uncommonly hep square from the late fifties or early sixties that you would first encounter in a bank or accountant's office but unexpectly see in a jazz club or opium den later in the week. I also stick to thrift stores, always wear saddle-Oxford shoes and dinner jackets, and never wear a shirt that doesn't button from top to bottom or have a neck-tie option.

Clothing varies according to season. Winter = black goes with everything, big black coat, hiking boots, satchel. Summer = dark coloured shorts, T-shirt, hiking boots, satchel.

About the only consistent thing about my clothing is my satchel...took me fifteen years to find and is one of my most treasured possesions. Always stuffed, always heavy, always on.

I can't say I'm wearing anything all that interesting just at the moment, but I'm going to a wedding near Cannes in June, so I'm thinking of trying to get hold of a white suit somewhere, just to fit in with the whole S of France atmosphere. The trouble with this is, I'm almost bound to get pissed and spill red wine, fag ash virtually everywhere, but apart from that anyway, is this a good look ? And if so, what's an appropriate shirt ? I'm thinking something quite colourful, but a lot of the time I don't really know what I'm talking about, so any ideas ?

I too love satchels, though it is very hard to find a decent one. At the moment I am using some horrible convention fodder freebie satchel complete with corporate branding, I just can't find one to replace it.

Regarding satchels: Mine's got an Eiger label stiched on the front, but Eiger turn out to be one of those companies who's corporate website is non-existent or somehow tucked into page 1285 of Google results, so I can't furnish a picture or a link for further information. Of course, given that I purchased this from the thieves market in Singapore, there's a good chance it's a bootleg.

Samsonite's Trunk&Co sub-brand also make a great satchel-type bag called 'Ollie'. And then there's the bags from Timbuk2 and CrumplerBags

I searched for the perfect satchel and because I am so hard to please it was beginning to appear to be a lost cause, so I almost gave up. Then I saw it in a dream and that afternoon I jetted straight to a store and bought it, on Sale! No more searching for this happy boy! Question, are red sneakers out? I just painted a pair and now I cannot decide if they will work with my red {blush} Armani sweater. Same shade of red.

Favourite clothes of the moment: charcoal grey dries van noten linen suit (most expensive thing I've ever bought and worth every penny - it makes me look about 4 inches taller). Green traditional austrian hat with a feather in it. High waisted green check japanese trousers. Brown and biscuit coloured Nike Air Zooms from Tokyo. Stripy pajama trousers - I can wear these out in singapore and nobody comments! Feels weirdly sexy doing so...

I feel oddly hypnotised by those shoes. I wouldn't normally be seen dead in anything like them, but the more... I... look at them, the more I feel... like... like they're... controlling my... brain.

Anyway, grey suit, bermuda/paisley pattern shirt for a formal occasion, is what the shoes have decided, but what's the best colour of tie ?
