Hey Folks.

A friend decided that they didn't want to take thier esspreso maker with them to the new flat and ended up giving it to me.

I don't really fancy sleeping for a while.

So I thought I'd make My First Topic Post Ever (ANYWHERE!) and ask for any website's that you guys would think I'd like. I'm up for anything right now (might ask for more specific stuff later), be it politics, fashon, whatever. I've only really started to look outside the mainstream (or what I'd consider mainstream, at any rate), so just put it out there. The only problem may be that my computer is older than god, so if it's overly flashy, please say so on the post, and I'll check it out later at my friends place.

Okay,

Ready....

Set...

GO!!!

For stuff outside the 'mainstream' you might find that clicking around these sites takes you to some interesting places:

Memepool
Cruel Site Of The Day
Linkdump
Catch
b3ta

There have been a few threads like this in the past so it might be worth searching on the obvious words. Here's a couple for starters though:
'Weird links'
Reference sites
And Money$hot has just started another here

And congratulations on your first topic. Hope it'll be the first of many.

if you like a nice collection of wierdness from all the sources a teenage metalhead would love, you could do worse than warren ellis' blog

i like the occasional look over at U75 too.

Neil Gaiman's blog is good, too.
Also the BoingBoing blog, b3ta, and indymedia all worth a look. Protein Feed's good sometimes.
My fave new find is howstuffworks.com. I needed to get my head around offset litho and in 20 mins I knew enough to bore a pub to death. It's like Johnny Ball never went away.

And lets' not forget the near-incomprehensible ntk.net. Great stuff, but I have no idea what half of it is about.

The first site I'd like to recommend is educational. Colorblindness explained. This site fascinated me because it attempts to show the visually normal what the visually deficient (jk) see. I could stare at those roses for hours. A friend was noodling around when he found this site and he discovered that he was in fact colorblind. We talked about this for an hour. IT WAS SO NEAT!! < /geekout>

The other site, not that you'll check this one out either, is the only online comic strip I read. Achewood is a comic strip about what this guy's stuffed animals and cats get up to when humans aren't around. It's simultaneously hilarious and poignant. For example, this strip illustrates perfectly how I feel about blogs/livejournals. And this strip is just one example of why Phillipe is the most adorable creature ever.
