Bad luck

As a mere occasional practitioner (never really done much more then sigils) would you advise me to drop it like a hot coal given that every time I try something, I get an immediate run of bad luck? Including two car crashes, three weeks apart to the hour.

Or am I just being paranoid? Thoughts from the more experienced will be much appreciated...

Do you keep a diary/journal - what sorta sigils where they? How did you 'abstract' the intent? Sometimes you have to watch the wordings to pictogram/mantrical glyths. You have to really watch yer semantics, and how you word them - keep the 'grammar' as accurate and as defined as much as it can. I've noticed that putting in things like not, can't, etc.. what you would call negative commands doesn't work very well in the process. I would keep a diary or some sort of journal if I was you. I would also study semantics and maybe NLP stuff with Quantum Psychology (RAW book) to reappraise how language/grammar acts. Some people believe in the Liber Boomerang or Instant Karma, course some sigils just won't work - you need to build a good feedback loop with the process of sigilisation.

I can relate to you, I had the same problem. When I started practicing magick, particularly magick to heal myself, (I had severe chronic fatigue at the time. First healing ritual I got a pulmonary absess the nest day that landed me in ,the hospital in terrible pain. The second healing ritual I got chicken pox the next day. Third healing ritual, bad accident that crippled me for life. I quit doing healing rituals. What I needed to do was to reprogram myself and get to the core of sme very negative material in my life. I now have no problems with t,hat. For myself, what I turned to was eastern technique. Meditation, consciousness reformulation, stilling the mind, examining cause and effect,(not karma, but simple cause and effect, I've found that the karma concept can cause more trouble than it's worth). NLP was mentioned, while I haven't used it, I've heard from a lot of people that it works well for changing internal programming. Actually some of the new agey stuff works well for this, but one of the best techniques that I found was integration of undesired "opposites". Things that I had been told just were not kosher, like lust, anger, pride, and ,the like. Good luck. Issac Bonewits wrote about this, called it "nega-psi". It can be overcome. Look at me.... I'm not dead.

Thanks for the advice folks. Looking back over the (patchy as hell) journal that I've been keeping, I see a horrible synchronicity between some of the stuff I was trying to do and the unfortunate events that followed...I don't suppose a great dose of Catholic guilt stalking around after me helps much either. It seems that guilt and denial are Very Bad Things. Astonishing that I didn't spot this for myself really, isn't it? Jeez, it's a wonder I can *spell* sigil, never mind bloody use one.
