smoke that cigarette a day for a week or two more, but actively.
think about it in as much detail as you can, analyse each and every part of each and every draw.
think about what it is doing for you, what it is making you feel, and how the chemicals are doing their job.
think about the damage it is causing; think about its each and every cost, financial and otherwise; think about the pain that you normally miss that each inhale causes.
after a week or two of this, start to phase out the cigarettes.
day one, smoke and do as you were doing.
day two, DONT smoke, yet still attempt to recreate the experience as you have been the last two weeks.
repeat until you feel you can smoke a cigarette without actually smoking one. until you are unsmoking, say.
before all this, i would personally have made a new sigil, and hidden it away.
once you have become an accomplished unsmoker, fire your sigil and forget all about the cigarettes. if you feel the need to smoke, unsmoke.
hopefully this will be of use...
on a less magical tip, make sure you stop at the end of a pack of cigarettes, not half way through. make sure you dont keep carrying a lighter, and make sure you dont look at the tips of other people's cigarettes every time one is lit(this will invariably mark you as a fellow smoker, and you will be offered one). try your hardest not to smoke when you normally would(i.e. when on drugs, while drinking coffee, while drunk).
some situations are better just avoided altogether at first, as a cigarette will seem like the only answer. as an example, i was able to tholl it through ecstasy, but acid made my brain so twisty that i convinced myself i would freak out if i didnt smoke. (i had to save my sanity, obviously)
also be wary of massive upsets that give you excuses to smoke.
these upsets can be real, such as a bereavement, or a significant other dumping you, but they are still not a good reason to smoke. if you stub your toe the day after quitting, you will notice that it seems equally serious, and requires nicotine.
this is your brain tricking you. |
