One from a couple of nights ago:
Monday 2nd February 2004
Extremely vivid. Mostly set in big semi-detached house with everyone I know living in it. Air of menace throughout. Hideous lizard/centipede thingy grows in jar of rice cakes that I have left unattended too long, and escapes. It is green with rectangular red holes regularly spaced along its back. A flat square plate, also red, sticks out of each hole, it looks like some sort of cooling system.
Outside, in the sun, grant from the Barbelith message board is pushing me around the pavement in a bucket on wheels. We have to change a lightbulb in the haunted house next door. We look up at the house and can see the bulb through a first-floor window at the front of the house. The view into the room is fantastically clear, which makes it more threatening, somehow. I say: "Well it's nice and sunny, should be nothing to be scared of" but as soon as I've said it there's a great peel of thunder. We look at each other, laugh and say: "Cue thunder..." I look up behind us at a beautiful, early evening sky with one large, dramatic cloud in it. The front end is slightly pink and classic fluffy/bumpy. The back end morphs into dark, interwoven ribbons which stretch away into the distance. I focus on the front of the cloud and appreciate how sharp and detailed the image is, and how 3d it looks (perhaps slightly lucid at this point?)
I turn back to the house. grant puts on a determined face and says: "I'm going in. I'm going to do it." I hold back and watch as he clenches his jaw and strides towards the tall wooden gate at the side of the house that leads to the haunted house's back garden. |
