Dreaming about barbelith

So, I had this dream where there was a massive barbelith festival. I figured there would be more bands, actually. There were lots of psychic workshop type things (evolution 101 like) and several people going around wearing t-shirts with the message board imprinted on them. It was all like a cross between some geeked out sci-fi con with super smart conspiracy freaks and a rainbow gathering. Crazy shit! You ever have any dreams like this?

I was trying to cross a road and dreamt that the road was flowing slow moving tar.. then I realised I was awake and sheer exhaustion was causing me to see things! creeped me out a little bit..

Right before I went to NY for the spooky holiday, I was having a number of dreams involving Barbelith conventions. I saw Ganesh and Xoc. A few of the Magick-denizens were there, flippantly switching suits like mad. It all happened in a tropical resort setting. That trip I met five Barbelith posters IRL. And the NYC rain oh-so-considerately ceased for the duration of my trip.

Also, while I was in NY, I met Flux in a dream. Being that he's previously proven himself a mocking sceptic and I've not really interacted with him much otherwise, I never mentioned it.

I wasn't in it, was I? There was this really disturbing period a few months back where I was turning up in people's dreams all over the place. It was most exhausting.

...I think I had a dream involving you, some Stoke Newington residents and a nice picnic, but that was over a year ago...

Picnics aside I've had dreams of living in an ever-shifting Barbelith Safe House with dozens of others, plus an amazing intense dream of contacting Barbelith 'the Sattelite-Thingie' and getting the green light...

There were dozens of folk at my dream-convention, Mordant. Though you might have made a passing appearance, I don't remember you being a major fixture in my experience. Not that you're unwelcome in my dreamscape, mind...

Oddly enough, the day before the board crashed, I dreamt that Emma Frost of the X-Men was trying to hack and crash the board, and I was trying to stop her. Apparently I wasn't able to. Apologies...

I dreamed that Chairman Maominstoat had sent me a Welcome Home! present. When I opened it, it turned out to be a set of dice carved out of beeswax. Each side had a different Barbelith-related scene etched into it. They were quite lovely, and it all felt very natural. Which it shouldn't have, since I don't know any Barbelith people irl.

Other people were in it, too, but I don't remember who or what they were doing.

I had a dream where I was trying to go to the forums, but I couldn't remember how to spell "barbelith."

I had a dream a few nights ago that Barbelith was pissed at me. Like, the whole thing. Wasn't a good feeling. A familiar one, but not good.

I much prefer the idea of a festival. Can I dream that one?

Last night I had a dream that I was on line to an orgy, but never actually got to it. Damn frustrating, that.

One from a couple of nights ago:

Monday 2nd February 2004
Extremely vivid. Mostly set in big semi-detached house with everyone I know living in it. Air of menace throughout. Hideous lizard/centipede thingy grows in jar of rice cakes that I have left unattended too long, and escapes. It is green with rectangular red holes regularly spaced along its back. A flat square plate, also red, sticks out of each hole, it looks like some sort of cooling system.

Outside, in the sun, grant from the Barbelith message board is pushing me around the pavement in a bucket on wheels. We have to change a lightbulb in the haunted house next door. We look up at the house and can see the bulb through a first-floor window at the front of the house. The view into the room is fantastically clear, which makes it more threatening, somehow. I say: "Well it's nice and sunny, should be nothing to be scared of" but as soon as I've said it there's a great peel of thunder. We look at each other, laugh and say: "Cue thunder..." I look up behind us at a beautiful, early evening sky with one large, dramatic cloud in it. The front end is slightly pink and classic fluffy/bumpy. The back end morphs into dark, interwoven ribbons which stretch away into the distance. I focus on the front of the cloud and appreciate how sharp and detailed the image is, and how 3d it looks (perhaps slightly lucid at this point?)

I turn back to the house. grant puts on a determined face and says: "I'm going in. I'm going to do it." I hold back and watch as he clenches his jaw and strides towards the tall wooden gate at the side of the house that leads to the haunted house's back garden.

That dream is amazing, Saveloy.

And if I were an omnipotent TV executive, the show in which the incomparable double act of Grant and Saveloy instigate crazy capers with a forboding and dreamlike atmosphere vaguely reminiscent of David Lynch would be hitting primetime right now.

Rock! Each episode would be about changing a bulb in a weird and threatening situation (haunted house, abandoned lighthouse, crashed alien spacecraft etc) and the series as a whole would be about how it alters our personality/relationship and helps us overcome some personal problem. The title:

'How Many Lightbulbs Does it Take to Change a Man?'

Arf! Actually, that's a bit long - "How Many Lightbulbs?" will do.
