I'm *from* there, but I live in sunny Amsterdam now. Take time to check out The Contemporary Arts Museum of Houston and its exhibit on Matthew RitchieIf you lived in 4 or 5 spatial dimensions, his works would look like simple shapes.
Some of the best cheap Tex-Mex (it's all fattening) is to be found at Taqueria la Tapatia, on Richmond at Hazard, near the cool Montrose area. The Taqueria Arandas chain is good and no-frills. Also Spanish Flower up Studewood, almost to where it meets North Main and hits I-45 north, is also good.
Have your friend take you to Super Happy Fun Land, a small funky Venue on Ashland around 24th or 27th. It's a house that's catty-corner from an all-night re-bar factory. |
