Actually the best thing to do is to set up a mock nix environment on your pc, not just a ssh client. You can download cygwin at http://cygwin.com. Cygwin is a Linux like environment for windows, without the Xserver. Also you might want to check out http://nessus.org. Nessus is a free security scanner/exploit finder that runs on Linux, this can assist you in locating security holes in "your" system. I am stating "your" system b/c using this scanner on a system that does not belong to you would be illegal according to our laws now in place regarding internet legislation. There are also several sites out there regarding the subject, but the Hacking Secrets books that Wombat referred you to, are an excellent source of information and a good place to start. |
