As many of you probably know, I hate football. But today, Liverpool (where I was born) are playing Yeovil (where I grew up) and I've decided to throw my lot in with the plucky yokels.
So altogether now, in your best Wurzels accents...
(Sung to the tune of "Two Little Boys" as recorded by well known Olympic
swimmer, Rolf Harris.)
I was born on a Yeovil Saturday
It was persistin' down with rain
My mum said "what a big head"
I aint do'in that again
Well my dad rushed in
and here is the thing
He gave me some great advice
He said "now listen my boy, it ain't all joy
but remember this all your life"
CHORUS
In my heart I am always Yeovil
I belong to the Yeovil Town
Yeovil true, through and through
Whether we're up or down
'cause the sign of a true supporter
is the colour of their heart
day or night, I'm green an' white
we are Yeovil Town, ooh aarh
Well I grew up, I never faltered
and I found me a Yeovil girl
Then there came a weddin' day
and this is the tale to tell
Now the vicar, he said "be faithful,
all others you must forsake"
I said, I'll marry you true, for I love you
but there's something that I must say
CHORUS
In my heart I am always Yeovil
I belong to the Yeovil Town
Yeovil true, through and through
Whether we're up or down
'cause the sign of a true supporter
is the colour of their heart
day or night, I'm green an' white
we are Yeovil Town, ooh aarh
Well time went by,
my gall and I,
we had a little boy
and as things go, we loved him so
our little pride and joy
He learned to walk
Then he learned to talk
Imagine my heart that day
My emotions stirred with his first words
when I heard him say
CHORUS
In my heart I am always Yeovil
I belong to the Yeovil Town
Yeovil true, through and through
Whether we're up or down
'cause the sign of a true supporter
is the colour of their heart
day or night, I'm green an' white
we are Yeovil Town, ooh aarh |
