What musyic software do most of you use for copying and playing muic on your PC's. I have RealOne Player and Windows Media Player as defaults byt they get on my tits. I'm hate the album adverts start coming up on the Players as I'm trying to listen to some music. I suppose bascially what I'm asking is what's the music related equivalent of Mozilla?

I really like iTunes, Illmatic. It's got a really nice feel, has sweet little features like cross-fading between tracks, and no ads.

Which version of RealOne do you use? I use version 6 for pretty much all my audio/visual needs and have never encountered a single advert.
Just remember to set RealOne's preferences to 'Player Only (no media browser)' in the 'Tools' menu and you should be fine.
Similarly, with MediaPlayer, make sure the options under 'Player' (in the 'Tools' menu) have the box 'Start in Media Guide' deselected, and you should minimise the ads.

Cheers folks! Duh.. is all I can say about myself. Should really play with applications before I begin to moan about them shouldn't I? Might give iTunes a go, comparative cross test kinda thing....

I like winamp for playing music. It has a slick face, there are quite a few different skins for it, and it is small enough to sit at the top of my screen and not interfere with anything else I am doing.

I tend to steer away from those 'Jack Of All Trades' audio programs (like Musicmatch), as there are plenty of extremely high quality, totally free applications out there.

My personal preferences are foobar2000 for playback. It's small, uses very few system resources and supports just about any audio format straight 'out of the box'. And it's eminently configurable. And I quite like its no frills appearance, it sort of reassures you that the programmers have concentrated on the actual functioning of the software.

If you want to rip CDs, then there really is only one choice - ExactAudioCopy. It's the singlemost accurate digital audio extraction program there is.

If you try these out and need any help, then just PM me and I'd be happy to help you out.

The new Winamp 5 is pretty smart but with all media players follow the advice above and learn to love your preferences. There's a 'geek tax' that must be paid to have a nice computing experience and its best you get it over and done with now. Fiddle to your hearts content.

You may take that last comment any way you wish.

Also if you palys lots of good stuff get a good codec pack like ffdirectshow (google for fun and profit) that will play all those l33t movies you can get off the net. Good codecs are where it's at baby.

I have RealOne player and QuickTime player. I also have WindowsMedia player. I get to know about RealOne thru my handphone. I was shooting some simple video with my handphone then. At least that's the least I can do to spend time especially when I am out of jobs. I am thinking of shooting a candle flame being put off and playing Elton John's candle in the wind in the background at the same time. But at this mement, I can't find any candle. What's worse, I just loose my enthusiasm to try shooting new video. There's this superb video on Snappy drinks on barbelith; I dunno how long they takes to put this video together, it's just too mind boggling. For me, I think simple video is just for me, simple, non time-consuming, etc.
