A friend is moving into a new place and is looking for ways to clear the place of old energy, make it a nice home conducive to graduate studies and a relationship with a partner.

Any ideas besides the usual candles and incense?

My uncle used to show up around New Years, bringing those crackers with him. He'd have us open the front and back doors to "let the Old out and the New in," just a bit of folk tradition. I don't suppose that could hurt things any.

I can at least say what I did for my dorm room:

Personal sigil in sage on the doors and windows. Sketch a circle on the floor. Use the circle as a ripple point, that is that it represents the place where the pebble of your will is dropped into the water of the place. Your will "ripples" out from the circle to counteract and wash away the ripples of past resonances.

Err...I also recited bibliomantically chosen (random page, pin) passages from the E.A. Wallis Budge translation of the Book of the Dead (yes, yes, I know it's apparently not accurate, but it works). It helped as a focus. In theory you could do something else, like some book on stress relief for grad students, or maybe an academic work on romance. Something to set the mood, I think.

A good 'spring clean' usually works wonders.

Gee...this is great! I am moving today (and completely stressed out). I am glad this is here. Synchronicity strikes again!

Lots of interesting spells on that link Illmatic. Thanks.
