After a long year of great highs and staggering lows(events, I don't think I am
manic/depressive yet), I find myself craving a good old fashioned christmasy type
spirit but unable to find it. I generally love holiday time but feel its all rushing past
and I am left sidelined and uninspired.
True we have in our household experienced too many deaths of loved ones. These blows
would be hard to get past regardless. But there is more.
I think part of the problem is how disillusioned I feel with so many people I know.
Watching others interact around me has really done my head in lately. They say you
can tell a lot about a person by how they treat others. I am holding no stock in the
goodness of humans based on the narcicistic acts of my little world lately. And the number
of pots calling the kettles black, if you see what I mean, maybe even including myself.
Are we all just crap, out to get what we want at everyone else's expense? Why is there so
much usuary happening to people I really care about? why don't they see it?

I know with this post, I am opening myself to all sorts of jabs and comments on my moaning.

Anyway, tell me something to make me get that yummy feeling again.
Tell me heartwarming stories of christmas magick.
tell me ideas to help me see past these crappy brown coloured glasses I feel I am examining
the world through.

Or all be warned and take a good look at what people who you think are friends are really doing to you.

Really sorry, Lilly - would love to help, but I hate and loathe Christmas - as far as I'm concerned, you have the right idea with yer brown goggles...

"I wish I loved the Human Race;
I wish I loved its silly face;
I wish I liked the way it walks;
I wish I liked the way it talks;
And when I'm introduced to one
I wish I thought What Jolly Fun!"

More here. Sorry Lily, nothing but empathy from me either, but general random huggles to yer.

Pyjamas for shrews, dude. We have a whole cadre knitting tiny pyjamas to keep shrews warm, allowing them to sleep soundly for more than an hour at a time, stretch, yawn and feel utterly rested and cosy.

Cosy shrews. If that isn't worth birthing the Messiah for I don't know what is.

Here's a touching Christmas story, if it helps.

This is working. Especially face mounting. I'll not share that with my two year old,
but she is helping too. More stories of the glow type please!

By the way, last night I managed to wrap a dozen prezzies which also made me feel
better. (coz they were all for me!!!)not really)

Have you ever had any real miracle-ish type thing happen to you at
xmas?

Stoatie: We'd love to see you sometime over the holidaze, or in the next century- its
understood that our evil non matrimonial influence is forbidden to you at the mo, but
don't forget how sensitive R is.....

Nah, honest, not forbidden... I've just (literally) been asleep for most of the last week. Will be in touch very soon though, don't worry.

Hmm... I once nearly broke my arm on Christmas Eve (I think I fell down the stairs on the bus home, but I'm not sure) and spent the next week or so in pain and all bandaged up... okay, not too heartwarming, but in retrospect, it WAS funny. (And I got a couple of extra days Christmas holiday out of it, so...)

And then there was 2 years ago when I totally missed Christmas through too much absinthe on Chrissy Eve... (tho I did manage to regain consciousness for long enough to watch the Christmas message from the ISS, which was kind of cool, even though on my slow connection it actually looked like they were broadcasting from Proxima Centauri rather than Earth orbit...)

...hang on, why do I like Christmas again? (Last year rocked, though.)

YEAH! Maybe Flash Gordon'll be on telly! It usually is! Last year they had Doc Savage: Man of Bronze as well!

Okay, officially rambling now. Anyway, huggles, and see you very soon. (And that goes for everyone else too.)
