Gnostic Churches

I've just started looking into the Apostolic Johannite Church (AJC). Anybody know anything about them?

In organized Gnosticism there appears to be a mingling of old mystic/esoteric belief, Roman Catholicism, and a little bit Crowleyan magick stuff. That's at first glance.

Anyone know more? Anyone curious?

Exceedingly curious but lacking in meaningful information. Investigations in progress. Cheers for the link.

Dunno about the Johannites but some gnostic views seem OK to me. Not my bag but if someone else's then it's OK. Coptic christianity and stuff like that seems quite interesting - y'know the dead sea scrolls, Essenes and all that, etc... Most of that stuff is based on old occult stuff but repackaged. Have you ever read "The Bible and the Occult", I think it might be on Feral House presently, but I saw another copy on another publishing house ages ago which a Wiccan friend had. I mean Rastas take their stuff from Coptic stuff and the Maccabee Bible. Everbody seems to appropiate from each other. Never made it to the AJC website but when their gateway gets cleansed I'll get back to you! Ever heard of the Church of the Agapemone, that was based around Somerset - started victorian times I think!!??!!

I just found a fun little blog written by a Johannite Gnostic priest. He seems like a regular guy, if that description means anything.

The Palm Tree Garden has links to alot of Gnostic Churches. It might help you find out a bit more about the Churchy part of Gnosticism.

I think Quakers are pretty core Gnostic. The practice is all about 1) experiencing Christ/the Living God present and 2)submitting the whole of one's life to the ordering of said Living Presence. Also non-hierarchical in organisation: no creeds, priests etc, and decisions in church government (as with every other kind of decision) are taken in a spirit of worship under the guidance of that Holy Spirit which takes away the occasion of war and leads people to healing and reconciliation with each other and all other species.
