Proof that the United States military are the good guys (PICS)

Bad guys always have the best looking military uniforms. The Nazis had those snappy black and grey numbers with mystical symbols. The stormtroopers had those all white, very clean and slick looking uniforms. The current U.S.Army chocolate chip uniform is very plain looking.

have you seen their haz-mat suits, though?
they look pretty cool.

maybe that just means the US are only evil when the non-(geneva)conventionial weapons come out.

I don't know if that's fair. Anything with a gas mask invokes images of the Golden Age mysteryman Sandman, so it's gonna look cool.

The Nazis had good uniforms because someone was a style junkie... Hugo Boss for gods sake! Your theory doesn't work if you take the Russian communists in to account (especially under Stalin, he was a right weirdo) they looked terrible.

What are you, kidding? The Russians had BOOTS, woman!

And COATS!

And HATS!!

I mean, how cool is this?:

And TUNICS!!

Stalin, after all, had COSSACK DIVISIONS!

(OK, technically, this is a picture of German Cossacks, but still, the idea's the same.)

Admittedly each individual piece was lovely but look at the men on the horses. It's like someone made each separate entity with great care and then totally forgot that together they needed to make a stylish yet intimidating uniform. Now the Nazis got it going on- they were scary and the clothes looked good together and as separates.

Yes, The Winter Palace used to reverberate with the chants of "Yooooh-oooh, Oooooh-eeee-ooooh..."

Constipated!

Good hat though. Russians were the best at hats and geometric patterns.

Jack, you're saying that bad guys wear cool uniforms and good guys wear crap ones? Try telling that to the family of this drunk, throttled by a City of London police officer in a dreadful poly/cotton short sleeved shirt as his colleague eggs him on.

I suspect that with uniforms, as with everything else it's all about accesorising.

Nazis: lots of strappy thingys

Stalin era communists: long plain lines, very little decoration. As a side point the NKVD (later KGB) had the best uniforms in Russia as did the SS in Germanys which just goes to prove that those who don't fight/use the stuff practically get better style.

Todays US marines: Cute little bandolier thingys that hold grenades etc.

Am I right?

Uniforms are about plain lines, yes, but accentuation of upper-body broadness (shoulders, chest) with just the right amount of tailoring. A sprinkling of authority symbols: strappy gun-holster, cuffs, boots of shiny, shiny leather (leather is good), gloves and sunglasses/peaked cap to shade/depersonalise the eyes.

The Nazis certainly appealled to the fetishist in every little boy, with plenty of hardware, glossy surfaces, tall boots and belted greatcoats. Of course, wars fought in hotter temperatures tend to be a little less... natty.

Some people can still put together a look, though...

You're forgetting that it's not the uniform that makes the good guys. Watch any action movie and the bad guys always have AK47s (aka 'bad guy guns'). You know you're evil by the weapon you have.

Small German pistols also = evil.
Very very large guns and/or aircraft carriers = good

Cheap. Easy. Cruel.

I dunno, I have always thought that the U.S. Marine Corps has some pretty good looking dress uniforms.

But, their formal evening wear uniforms just look plain silly. I mean, really, who wears a cape in this day and age?

Although, the SS did have the best uniforms ever.
