Your Ideal Day

What would you be doing if you weren't doing the cacky bollocks job that you're doing now? What would it be? I was thinking something not to far from your life as it stands now, something that could happen if you had just a few spare quid and some free hours? I think mind would consist of a bit of early morning exercise and meditation, and cracking ino an intelectual project, writing up some of the numerous essays and bits and bobs I'v got planned (instead of being knackered and unable to switch the PC on when I get in). Cooking a proper lunch and then more writing, reading, then a siesta...

Hmm... can you tell I'm pissed off at work?

Cheap. Easy. Cruel.

Hmmmmm, an early breakfast and shower, followed by a bit of home improvement work. A light lunch, then off to the drop zone. A few jumps followed by a bit of mechanic work on a project vehicle. A quick shower, then off to the bar for a few drinks with some friends before going home to read for a few hours in bed.

I don't like to sit still much.

I agree with that sentiment. I don't mind sitting for awhile but I think sitting at a PC all day is incredibly unpleasant and unhealthy. The human body isn't designed for that. My back aches, I'm bored, getting snappy.. thank fuck I'm going to be doing this job in under a year... anyway back to the fantasy, I'd defintely like to get in a walk in the country somewhere in there, perhaps a run or a swim as well.

I'd get out of bed at around 11am, have a shower, play with my laptop for a while (email, message boards) and then eat some breakfast. I'd probably wander around a gallery or museum for a few hours, eat some lunch around 2/3pm and then go home and write a bit about what I'd seen or dive in to some other project. A couple of hours later I'd do my daily tidy up, sit down and read a book or watch a film and just whatever I had to do that day (magic/cooking/anything practical).

Why do I miss this life when I never had it?

Oh wait, it's exactly what I did when I was a student.

A bit of early morning exercise and meditation, tea and a spliff and cracking ino an intelectual project, writing up some of the numerous essays and bits and bobs I'v got planned (instead of being knackered and unable to switch the PC on when I get in). Cooking a proper lunch and then more writing, reading, then a siesta...then a beer and a spliff.
In the evening having achieved loads, going out with friends to a nightclub, dancing ecstatically, coming home and talking about the nature of the universe until early morning over spliffs and tea, then sleeping and having wicked dreams that I remember.

At this time of year...

Wake up in warm bed, preferably while it's still dark enough to go back to lovely sleep for another couple of hours. Get up and have a good *hot* shower (a rare commodity in my current house); dress leisurely. Muffins and damson jam for breakfast.

Couple of hours in the library - this should take until say two o'clock at this time of year - and then a good long walk, preferably with wellies and lots of satisfying mud. Get home and put something nice in the oven, probably cake but possibly buns. Have a snooze while it's cooking and then have lovely warm cake for tea.

A few more hours of work and then off to the pub for a quick pint (bitter) and chat. Quick walk back home in the cold and dark, quickly to bed and fall asleep with face in novel and the light on, so that you wake up in the middle of the night and turn it off (I like this for some reason).

wake up to morning nookie, then take my time rolling out of bed. loooong shower. check my email, then head off to the city for a hours long walk around, absolutely everywhere, taking photos. coffee for breakfast, gnocchi and hazelnut gelati for lunch. more walking. my girl and I at the aquarium, the movies. a nice dinner at home. out to a show with a friend, several friends, and a late snack at an all night restaurant, laughing over our fellow showgoers.

that would be the best day ever. I should plan that now.

Quantum, stop trying to steal my identity. Are you just me with more spliffs?

Get up early and head off into a bright, crisp, cold morning on my bike. Meet up with a few friends and ride all day, with a few hills, a bit of coast and some lovely views along the way. Head back as it gets dark, stop off for a quick pint somewhere near home. Home, shower, big meal, beer.

Mmmmmm. Must arrange my life better.

My favourite days are my travelling ones... and the days I have here that fit it. Ideally with someone else, not alone:

Wake up, walk and wander to coffee and pastries. Newspaper over coffee, walk more, with museum/gallery/ visits to others sites or streets. Take pictures, talk, grab lunch, sit and watch the streets and people, another coffee in the early afternoon, sit in a park, read, walk, grab dinner, and usually asleep, pleasently exhausted by 8pm, or alternately hitting the pub for drinks with optional later dancing.
