Some really stunning photographs of old schools, factories, mines & the like. Mostly from around Europe by the looks of it. Creepy but cool.

Cheap. Easy. Cruel.

That is quite neat! This picture really grabbed my attention. I want it in a large poster form to hang on the wall in my bedroom.

Is it just me or does that look weirdly like Thomas the Tank Engine?

It does! Even more if you look at it upside down.

Funny - someone just posted that link on the urban_decay community on Livejournal. Was that you?

That's a good community, incidentally. I was taking a walk today and found some superb places, but I'd forgotten my camera, so I'm going to go back tomorrow afternoon I think.

Very impressive. A lot of "urban decay" photography is basically crap, overdone, tedious and far to angsty for my liking. Here you have managed to approach the abandonment aspect with thoughtful interpretation of character and substance.

I wish I were this good.

"Is it just me or does that look weirdly like Thomas the Tank Engine?"

It is him. I like the way whoever did this to him managed to preserve his wide-eyed look of astonishment as they ripped his face off and stuck it upside-down in a brick wall. Sinister.

but seriously folks...

When I was abou 17 I found an abandoned Cooling tower near where I lived. It was the eeriest place I'd ever seen. It was pitch dark in places, with sheer drops into black water. I shot some panoramas and some B/W too. I'll try and find em and post if I get a chance.

i dunno how to post a photo, but this is the website for the first empty show - a bunch of stencil artists and graf writers etc. doing up an abandoned building.

Well quite a while back I was inspired by www.infiltration.org to go take some shots of a mostly abandoned rail yard in Newcastle.

Shot with a very primitive digi-cam I still have a certain fondness for my first ever 'expedition' . Pity last time I went by there they'd the two cool engines away and ripped up all the tracks. But it made me glad I'd taken some pictures while I could. Really must get round to getting some more practice with black and white film at some point.
