A request for assistance, if anyone can provide it.

The left hand, palm up, reveals a small 1 on the upper middle finger, small 2 on the upper ring finger and a small 4 over 7 in the space between the index and thumb. Thoughts on the possible meanings of this group of numbers and their position on the hand?

Are you left or right handed? when you say 'upper' do you mean the fingertip, or the mount at the finger's base or on one of the joints?

if you sort of bunch up your fists and hold them in fro t of you and count from left to right, each knuckle [cept lil left finger] is a month of the year with thirty-one days, and the dips between the knuckles are months with less than thirty one days, i.e. thirty days, cept for that first dip on the right hand there, which is changeable.

it's true

and 'mazing - totely totely 'mazing

Quantum: Subject in question is naturally right-handed, and fingertip would be the best answer.

OK, after a long hard look at my books and the web, I despaired and asked my Mum, who was a professional reader for about 10 years. She said 'I don't think it means anything' which was my opinion too.

It's not the dominant hand so it has a lot less impact than if it was on the other IMO, and the positioning doesn't seem to be terribly significant.

I think it's one of those situations where you have to depend more on intuition than exposition, in the context of the rest of the hand it may make sense but without that it probably doesn't matter too much (compared to the major lines and mounts, say) and is difficult to interpret in isolation. I reckon your opinion is the most useful, I could postulate a dozen significances but they'd all be conjecture.

(For example, The 1 indicates the pre-eminence of Saturnine influence on the querent, followed by Apollonine indicated by the 2, while the four over seven indicates a reduced Martian influence, perhaps the querent represses their anger due to a sense of responsibility, but utilises their charisma to achieve the same aims?)

Subject in question would probably disagree with the assessment that it means nothing, of course. Numbers appearing on fingers isn't exactly a common occurance in their world.

That said, your insights are muchly appreciated, Quantum. Thanks for giving it a go.

Maybe ask them what they think. What do you think it means? Whatever you come up with I'd be interested to know, it is fairly unusual.

The White Goddess by Robert Graves has a section on how specific fingers relate to the ogham, gods/goddessess - like the thumb is said to represent the phallus. Don't know much about palmistry me self. Supposed to relate to the battle of the trees y'know the druid bard's esoteric poem???!!!! You could probablly tie in runes as well!!!!!

"Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail."

Isaiah 47:12. Isaiah was challenging the Babylonian sorcerors in question to prove they were greater than God.

I have no sound basis for drawing any conclusions to my misfortune. I will continue to contemplate the possible meanings, doing what I may to assist. Subject in question remains adamant that it has some meaning, continues to push for help in understanding it.

Cheers on the suggestion, Macrophage!
