I've just read the collected edition of this. Beautiful artwork. The first couple of chapters are quite suspensful and I like that we don't see most of the actual operation in Latveria. I also would have thought that Spiderman is not the sort of person you take on a secret mission like this, he's the sort of person you take only because Marvel doesn't believe you can have too much Spiderman. The ending was a bit off, after all that happens everyone just packs up and goes home? I presume Bendis wrote this to lead into Civil War (which I haven't read any of), but a bit more of a proper ending would have been nice.
And why they didn't use this as an excuse to kill Nick Fury off I don't know. It's not like the guy can sustain his own series any more. But lovely, lovely painted artwork. We don't see enough of the Marvel universe in dark colours. |
