In Need of Doom Patrol...

I've picked up most of Grant's run off Ebay, but I'm still in need of a few issues, and was hoping people could help me out, I'd obviously be willing to pay/trade for the issues as needed.

The ones I need are 29, 43, 45-48, 51 and 53-54.

Also, I've got a couple of doubles: 19 (2 extra copies), 21, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27 and 49.

I'm of no help - I have all of those issues, but I'll never part with them. Do you know that they are releasing Doom Patrol in trade paperbacks over the next two years? Maybe you should just sit tight for a bit til they come out.

I recently sold a bunch of back issues of Doom Patrol on Ebay. I have had the most uncanny luck finding Doom Patrol back issues in good conditon in the local comic book shop quarter bin. I have probably picked up 3 complete(4 including the set that I own)runs that way. Try there first. I will keep my eye out for these issues and see if I can find them. I have since exiled myself to Maui and have only found one comic shop near me but have not entered it yet.

I just picked up a couple of batches off ebay. I think some of them are the ones you mention. You're not having them, mind. Keep your eyes peeled, I guess.

Strangely, I picked up a pile of the Doom Patrols listed above last weekend.

I'm afraid though that I love them and don't want to part with them - it's the ones with the Pentagon Horror and the New Brotherhood of Dada.. fantastic..

I don't know if you're in the UK Pat, but if you are Mega-City Comics in Camden has absolutely tons of back issues.. I've been picking them up slowly over the years, but they've got multiple copies of most of them..

Also, will DC re-issue the first Doom Patrol paperback when they do the new collections? I was wondering this about the ANIMAL MAN paperbacks, too - sure, they did Vol.'s 2 and 3, but is Vol. 1 still out of print? (I think it is) I have Vol. 1, but I feel bad for people who can't find it now.

I've read a few good reports that the entire Doom Patrol run will be issued in trades after Animal Man, so that should probably start very soon. I can't recall the places where I've read the news - I'm pretty sure one source was on Newsarama or something like that. I'm feeling a bit too lazy to hunt down all of those news items right now, I'm sorry.

I'm curious about how they are going to break up the storylines. I was going through those issues after some house cleaning recently, and the idea I had was something like this:

19-25 Crawling In The Wreckage, reissued
26-34 Brotherhood Of Dada - Decreator
35-45 Rhea - Men From NOWHERE - Beardhunter
46-54 Shadowy Mr. Evans - Brotherhood Of Dada II - the Shaky Kane issue
55-63 Aenigma Regis, Janes goes down to the well, Candlemaker, finale.

I just got the entire collection of GM's Doom Patrol run off eBay. Had to do a buy now and it cost me over $60 but I don't care, I've waited long enough.

Can't wait to read these. Already I've read "The Invisibles", "The Filth", "Animal Man", "Kill Your Boyfriend", "Arkham Asylum", "Mystery Play", "Marvel Boy", and "The New Adventures of Hitler". I'm still hunting for "Flex Mentallo" and various others.

(I'm also still waiting for "Lovely Biscuits", though recently I purchased all the books that the short stories in that collection originally appeared in).

Oh, it's OK, you big party pooper. Nothing fantastic, just good weird fun, really. The stories read like they were knocked out in a weekend after having read some Lovecraft and taken some mushrooms.
