Just a note to all you Lithers. You're crazy to not be in Salem, MA also known as 'wrong place/wrong time women get burnt fer givin the eye'-ville. This is the first year in ages that Halloween is on a Friday. It should be great. I'll have my coat of many colors on in full effect. It's got a white 'badge' on the shoulder that reads Barbelith.
Salem is a very small city, but it'll be full to the Lovecraftian gills with crazy dressed up folk. The 31st is a very very big deal out here. You really should see it. The streets are gorged with people as if there was a cash prize. It'll only take about two hours to find parking. Public transport drops you right outside downtown, though. It's out of North Station on the Rockport/Newburyport line.
There's a couple of nice bars (like McSwiggins which beat me to opening a bar with the most offensive name Fighty McDrunkahans) and In a Pigs Eye has great food.
An Indian restaraunt also just opened up, Captain Dusty's is fantastic for ice cream, and for all you carnivores Salem is Roast Beef Heaven.
Oh and there's a witch museum, etc.
The local comic shop "Harrison's" is the biggest 'fat beard' heaven, complete with Punisher bowling shirts, etc. But good fer a laugh and a suprising selection of indies. I get my comics from the Red Lion Smokeshop, though, where I got a hardbound copy of the Watchmen.
So come one come lordy. It should be cool. I'll be hanging with a few friends and maybe walking my newly adopted dog. Email me if you'd like any info. I'll help if I can. |
