Is it possible to enter other people's dreams?

I had some strange nightmares the other day and it got me to thinking:
can you gain access to other people in the dream state and if so how? What might be the dangers.

Do you think that you've entered another's dream state then? Can I ask why or is that too intrusive?

Maybe, but it felt more like someone may have entered mine. I'm not entirely sure but I rarely have nightmares and then only when I'm worried about something. These seemed different - they came out of nowehere and started even before i had fully fallen asleep.
It felt like something was compelling me to do something I didn't want to do.

Of course I cannot discount the possibility that I've just been reading too much sci-fi/fantasy but I thought I would ask here about any possible occult perspectives that I can take into account.

Come to think of it - I've often had dreams (usually of a romantic nature) featuring people I know. Maybe it was just me but it always seemed to me that when I saw those same people the next day they were behaving differently.

There was nothing romantic however about the recent nightmares, although the first batch featured people who I know have some knowledge of magick.

Yes it is possible. Dreams can be shared, entered, observed etc. and may even be easier to influence than waking minds, as dream consciousness is much closer to magical consciousness.
How? It depends on your style I suppose, but lucid dreaming has got to be a good start. Dreamwalking is a traditional shamanic technique (I think), walk from your dream to someone elses.

If you felt something was affecting you it could be a spirit or dream being, or as you say too much scifi before bed, or maybe some bad brie..

I can't say from my own experience whether this is possible or impossible. Hearsay, anecdote and tall tales says that it is possilbe, that this is just words until it happens to you. Why don't you find a willing partner, give it a go and see what happens? Lucid dreaming and a shared symbol - say, two halves of a sigil or another object, kept undeer your pillow might be a start.

It is possible.

There are lots of ways to exeed the parameters of the 'normal' dreaming avenues, shared lucid dreaming and mutual dreaming are just two of them. It's also inherently dangerous especially if you have little or no experience of doing it, and in particular it's dangerous to your mental state. For example, if you don't practice dreaming techniques and are not used to odd dreaming experiences it can be very unnerving to wake up and feel like your dreams have been taken over - or even that you have gone on an unplanned journey in your own dreams. A kind of wake-up 'What the FUCK?' feeling!

You say you felt like someone may have entered your dreaming - is this a likely thing to happen to you at this point in time? Have you met someone new or begun some kind of relationship with someone who you know has some knowledge of dreaming? Have you had some sort of altercation with one of these people? I ask because IMO it is unlikely that someone would trangress your dreaming boundries uninvited, unless it was for a specific magickal reason which you may have unwittingly become a part of. Even then I don't know many people who would behave like that and give you no warning.

You sound worried about it - maybe I'm wrong but I read your posts that way. If you feel concerned try to set your mind into a relaxed state, perhaps before you go to sleep, and try to recall what was compelling you, and what that person/thing/feeling was compelling you to do. You may find if you can remember this you can more easily work out what happened for you.

Yes. Try, try, try. And then try some more.

Well at the time it was deeply disturbing but as another nightmare was occurring i was still semi-conscious and i mentally performed taikyoku shodan kata (which can function as karate version of least banishing pentacle ritual) and things went back to normal.

I don't know. It felt like i was being shown horrific images (some kind of yellow/black insects) to prevent me from restful sleep until i did something but maybe it was just me. I haven't met anyone who, to my knowledge would enter my dreams though as i mentioned earlier the people i saw i know have practiced magick (of the african variety) in the past.

Anyway it has passed now but it was a quite unnerving experience that i wanted to try and understand better.

Ironically, I've been planning to get a book on lucid dreaming for some time now. I guess this is one more reason to follow through!

It wasn't the insects that were trying to get your attention then?
