NYC- Elliott Smith Vigil

I'm not usually the kind of girl who would attend a vigil for someone I didn't know, but I've been surprised, over the last few days, by the extent of my sadness at Elliott Smith's death.

I'd kind of like to go the vigil, but I don't really have any details about it other than that it is allegedly taking place this Sunday (October 26th) in Central Park. I've scoured the internet trying to find information (okay, scoured is maybe an exaggeration. But I've looked really hard) and haven't found anything.

Anyone thinking of going, or heard anything more about it?

< nervous insecurity > Oh, and, if you're reading this, could you please post some kind of response? I swear that every time I've started a thread, no one has responded, and it makes me feel like a leper. Thank you!

If there's a vigil in Central Park, my guess is that it would be at Strawberry Fields (72nd on the west side of the park). I'd also guess that it would be at or around sundown, but I have no idea.

I stopped by the park a bit before the vigil/memorial started. The center of the park was full of people, mostly young East Village punk-rock type kids. There were some speakers set up, and a couple of drum kits. Lots of people with guitars.

That's all I have for you, I'm afraid. I just couldn't stay, at the last moment. It made me too sad, and I couldn't quite see the point. So I walked around listening to Either/Or and felt that that was the best memorial that I could have given him...
