Is there an esoteric meaning to Morrison's New X Men?
Or this series has only Morrison postmodern vision of some of Marvel's heroes? Which is Morrison's fictionaut? Why is he so insistent in Cyclops' changes?

Grant's entire run on NEWXMEN is an invocation of Mammon.

I place my bet that most of the occult thing in GM's run is right there in the opening three issues, 114, 115 and 116, the villain being the master key.

I'd say there is a spell or anticipation of the demasking of super-heroes in the comic book medium, which has somehow showed up in other books. I'd think this was targeted to the major super-hero characters. You can extrapolate this to the lets all masks fall meta-spell if you wish.

There's also this thing about the gene for extinction of "buried" in the human race genome. We can think that this is the current comic book readership as GM sees it, or anything of your choice please.

Also, Charlie shoots someone. No matter if he was possessed or what, at that point I don't think anybody figured it out. And we learn he always carries a gun. I was watching Bowling For Columbine precisely yesterday, and it srikes me as odd that everybody thought Charlie shouldn't carry a loaded gun, while in the movie everybody was carring one for no apparent reason. Just becuase of comfort. Charlie does seem the right person to be carrying one around, and its just to blow his own brains out.

And Wolverine really teases Cyke like never before. The feral teasing the civilised. Calling for more balanced and self inner-honesty I'd say, the lacking of which places Scott so easily and effortlessly at mercy of his own bug-room.

And then Cassandra. The coming of the Utter-Unknown. Can't bloody say anything more. Just read what Charlie says when he scans her in 116, right after she escapes from her improvised prison at the mansion.

The meaning of New X-Men: Never trust a guy that wears a metal skull mask 24/7.

But seriously, it's probably a bit early to see what point Morrison's trying to make, or even if he has one. It's possible he just set out to make an entertaining yarn about the evolution of mankind, with some aliens and telepathic adultery thrown in for kicks.

Despite some freaky plot twists and deceptions, New X-Men has been pretty straight-forward. For Morrison, anyway.

Then again, there's a sigil on the cover of every issue...

As for Cyclops' changes, it's about damn time! He's been the repressed, perfect superhero since Smilin' Stan was writing X-Men. Iceman has had more developement, and Iceman's personality is boring as hell!

I think, if anything, one can pull the theme of "we're all the same, no matter how different." Maybe the sigil launched is trying to bring us together and take us out of our ignorant, little boxes. Everything from the logo/sigil to Cerebra to Esme/Emma to Cassie/Xavier to Xorn/Magneto to the actions this issue on Asteroid M to reversing the earth's poles to being a mutant/being a human all follows that theme of "the same, albeit different."
