By way of a hello (my first post) just thought I'd share my weekend. Went to Brighton Comedy Festival (UK) and saw Bill Bailey. Never laughed so much in all my life, the topics were incredibly deep and diverse, politics, philosophy, religion etc But so well presented and so cleverly done that it never left you feeling dumbstruck at the depth of the topics.

I've never seen so many people collectively laughing their heads off, was a true joy to watch.

One of my favourite moments was when he was discussing the legalisation of marijuana, and he asked 'has anyone ever had a bad experience with marijuana' and some guy piped up 'yeah when I couldn't get any'....

He's also an incredibly talented musician and his Drum and Bass, (or Drum and Bush as he called it) tune which featured many of George Bush's magical one liners set to a ravey drum beat complete with synths and strings would of graced any club in the land.

Was a truly magical night and if you get a chance to see him or at least get the DVD then do go I promise you'll laugh your head off

Hello and welcome, saroeb. I have been lucky enough to see Bill Bailey live a number of times, but not for some while. I agree, he is absolutely fantastic; one of the best comedy acts I have ever seen. I seem to recall him doing this thing where he would play around with stock jokes - like "2 men walk into a bar and then this other bloke comes in saying 'Sorry I'm late, got caught up in a shaggy dog story. Has the joke started yet?' " and then he'd just sort of play around with it. Wow, that looks staggeringly unfunny in print, but take it from me, it was really funny, surreal and inventive. And yes, he's a talented musician who does wonderful spoofs and pastiches. I hear his London show sold out on the first day tickets went on sale. Must look out to see if the show will be extended.
