According to New Scientist, strange rock carvings have been found in the North-East of England, resembling a heart-shape and a "footprint".

"We have absolutely no idea what they are," says Mazel, an archaeologist at the University of Newcastle. "They are nothing like anything we, or anybody else we have talked to, have seen before." He believes the carvings were not created recently - in the last 15 to 20 years - and could be as ancient as 3000 years old.

I'd say that looks more like bunny ears than a heart.

This is interesting-- I wonder what sort of people put them there? Pity they can't seem to pin the age down more firmly. Older than 15 years, younger than 3000... not much to go on.

Huh - thanks for the new link, sax -- but I have to say, the first pic they show didn't look like 2 faces looking in opposite directions to me at all - it looked like a rock with some bumps on it. Then again, maybe it's like those Magic Eye 3D things and I'm just not looking the right way. The second one looks slightly more like I could make a bearded face out of it, but I'm still aware that I'm stretching it as I look at it.

Anybody ever read Venus on the Halfshell, by Kilgore Trout?
