This, I think, has to be the most evil things I have ever, ever read about. The link's iffy, so here it is in full:

Man left to die in windscreen

by James Langton In New York

A drunk woman driver who drove home with a man trapped in her windscreen has been charged with murder after she left him in her garage to die.

Police initially thought the battered body found in a Texas park was the victim of a hit-and-run accident.

However, Chante Mallard has now been charged with murder after running down 37-year-old Gregory Biggs and leaving him trapped in the broken windscreen for two days until he bled to death.

Police say the accident left the man's body hanging over the dashboard and his broken legs trailing across the bonnet of her Chevrolet Cavalier. Mallard, 25, ignored his pleas for help and drove home.

After putting away her car, she occasionally went back to check him, apologising but still refusing to get medical
assistance. When he died from shock and blood loss, she dumped his body in a local park.

In her confession, Mallard, a nursing assistant, admitted that she had been drinking heavily and taking ecstasy on the night of the accident in October.

"It seems she drove the four miles back to her house with Mr Biggs literally hanging out the windscreen," said Jesse Hernadez, of the Forth Worth police.

Describing her behaviour, prosecuting lawyer Richard Alpert said: "Indifferent isn't enough. Cruel isn't enough to say. Heartless? Inhumane? Maybe we've just redefined inhumanity here.''

Oh and in her defense I must say that - gawd forbid - if I was ever in such a situation i'm not sure what I'd do meeself. Maybe she just freaked. I here's me thinking I've had some bad morning's after...

The stupid thing is he was still alive after the drugs and alcohol wore off.

At that stage she could have called an ambulance and turned her self in. The end result being a DUI and vehicular assault which in my rough estimation would have resulted in 18 - 3 inside and a two year suspended licence at most.

Now it's gone to DUI and vehicular manslaughter and criminal neglicence amongst a myriad of possible charges. She could be looking at up to an 8 year sentance and possibly a far greater revocation of her licence.

Given the now high profile of the case and good potential for her to be made an example of her I suspect that the judge and jury will throw the book at her.

Imagine killing someone while you're on ecstasy. the degree to which you would feel their empathic pain. it turns this from just a sadistic act to a damned masochistic one.

killing someone on ecstasy, even an ecstasy hangover. no wonder she kept checking on him while he was dying. she probably wanted him to hug her and dance with...

Drinking heavily tends to dull the empathic effects of ecstasy, in my experience. It's a nasty combination - just leaves you utterly insane and fucked up, but able to walk around and talk (if not talk sense).

"She's not a monster"

Bill, much as I agree that I'm not sure how I'd react if something like this happened to me, I absolutely certain that I wouldn't leave the guy to die. I really don't think that you can form any kind of solid defence along those lines in this case.

Good god, there's an aspect of journalism that I absolutely hate. They've gone and used the sort of picture that really does no justice to the accused and in addition to that they've cropped it to make her look worse.

Apologies for the thread rot.

This is fucking grisly. And it happened in Texas, a place where they execute jaywalkers. Such an ugly awful thing.

quote:Ms. Daniel also told police that Ms. Mallard "was messed up" on the drug "ecstasy" when she hit the man. The affidavit also quoted Ms. Daniel as saying Ms. Mallard told her that after she parked her car in her garage, she went inside her house and had sex with a boyfriend, leaving the injured man entangled in her windshield.

War on Drugs given more ammo.
Swell.
