Can anyone shed some light on the title, or song titles from this
album? A friend of mine is searching for it. It was a favorite of
his, and he wants to get it for his son:

> This reminds me of a record I had as a kid. It was a bunch of songs
> about Superheroes like The Phantom, Flash Gordon, etc. I only
> remember the Flash Gordon song. It was a surf tune...
>
> Here he comes
> Flash Gordon
> All the girls love Flash Gordon
> but there's no time for love
> and no time for courtin'
> 'cause Flash Gordon's got more important things to do
>
> Flash had a ray gun
> not an every day gun
> space was Flash's thing
>
> That's all I remember. I've been looking for this record for years.
> I doubt
> I'll ever find it.

Damn, that's some funny stuff! Pretty much the same level as "BIIG trouble with a capital B, a super-colossal calamity" or the Metamorpho song. Hope you find it, never heard of this one.

"Not an every day gun" - bwwahaaahahahhahaaaha!!!!

On a similar note, Ghostface Killa's 'Supreme Clientel' album features a strange Iron Man theme song (and plenty of sound snippets). Song goes:
'Tony Stark, will make you feel(?),
He's the cool exec, with a heart of steel,
As Iron Man with jet's aflame...'

and I can't remember the rest. Is this from a TV show, or one of those records. Anyone know? Anyhow someone should compile all these weird-ass super songs on to one CD. And send me a copy.

Oh yeah, that the theme to the 1966 "Iron Man" cartoon, that starred John Vernon, aka Animal House's Dean Wormer, as the voice of Tony Stark.

Marvel Superheroes: Iron Man aired as part of the Marvel Superheroes show. The series was a half-hour long and featured five different Marvel comic characters in their own cartoons - Captain America, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, The Mighty Thor, and Sub-Mariner. The show was Produced by Grantray-Lawrence Animation and it premiered in syndication in 1966.

You can listen to a ton of these TV theme songs at Comic Book Resources. These are mostly RealAudio files, though, not MP3s.

always loved the captain america theme:

"when captain america throws his mighty shield,
all those who chose to oppose his shield must yield..."

the internal rhyming scheme would suggest that West Side Story's Steven sondheim played a part in the creation of such a dynamic lyric.

I'm the proud owner of an LP called "Geoff Love and his Orchestra play.. THEMES FOR SUPERHEROES!"

Sadly it really sucks. Just lame instrumental easy listening versions of various movie / TV themes. It takes a special kind of genius to screw up the 'Spiderman' theme.

The best thing about it is the sleevenotes, by one 'Roger St.Pierre';
"Music plays a major role in creating the pedestals on which these superheroes stand in their unassailable majesty. Each hero needs his own signiture tune, music which, in itself, can build an atmospehere, a magical aura, to frame his deeds of daring-do!" and so on for about five hundred words.

Surely it's the Wonder Woman theme which has the most immediate kitsch immortality for it's "in her satin tights / fighting for our rights!" or however it goes.
