I was wondering if anybody on this board is hip to a samurai manga called Blade Of The Immortal, that's been pretty much the only title
I've bought lately, but I just have one question-does this thing ever end? I know the english translation by Dark Horse is behind the Japanese release but now I'm losing interest--

Yeah I began with the first tpb then began buying the monthly then got sick of that now I buy only the trades. I like it though.

Oh, I like it, and the recent stories have changed and evolved in an interesting way. A lot of development for Anotsu and Rin. Way I heard it, it´s supposed to have an ending, but it has not ended in Japan.
I like both the story and the art in Blade of the immortal... it´s sophisticated and never falls on vulgarity, even when it shows the most crude situations.

Yup, it's not over yet in Japan. Better idea to read it by the trades, there's a lot more of a political plot to it as opposed to character dev(something that's emphasized more in Vagabond). Though having said that, the two main characters(don't know their names in english) and even the prime antagonist are developed nicely along the way.

I guess if it continues long enough Manji will kill a thousand and thus no longer have the worms keeping him immortal and he'll finally die. Right?

I´d bet that by the time he kills a thousand, he won´t mind being an immortal, and will find another reason to go on...

I love Blade of the Immortal, it is one of the best manga's published by darkhorse. i bought "beasts" tpb at the weekend, and that was amazing, shocking, but amazing. i like the hyper violent artwork, but i also like the way he does not go ott with the nudity, as in some manga - kenichi sonoda etc

This is the most recent BotI thread, *bump*. It's on volume 13 at least now, and goes from strength to strength. Unlike most manga, this is amazingly written, and doesn't succumb to the stereotypical over-the-top FX splash, warped subplot characters/wacky sidekicks for comic relief, or demons exploding everywhere.

The artwork is breathtaking, the characters engaging, the fight scenes are exciting and the techniques are innovative (for example the mix of modern street slang and archaic high formal language).

Any other fans out there?
