In the October issue of The Face, Grant Morrison gives us his top ten list of all superheroes. Here goes:

1. The Flash
2. Superman
3. Paradax (Strange Days)
4. Diabolik (Euro comic anti-hero)
5. New Gods (by Jack Kirby)
6. Flex Mentallo, Man of Muscle Mystery
7. Emma Frost, The White Queen (X-men)
8. Cyclops (X-men)
9. Billy the Cat (and Katie) (DC Thompson)
10. Marvelman (by Alan Moore)

Issue also includes Brighton rockers British sea power's top ten list of colloquial names of british birds.

Where does one find copies of Strange Days? Was it ever collected?

I like the way he includes Flex Mentallo, a character he created! Not that I disagree.

I used to love Billy the Cat (and Katie). They ran in The Beano IIRC (or was it The Dandy?), and probably got me into super-heroes.

i'm glad to see the flash at the top there.
he had such a simple super power, but he was always one of the more interesting heroes to read.

i have no idea if he was my favourite... i would have to have batman in there, i guess. and maybe zenith, but i suppose two of your own would be a bit cheeky for 'guru' morr'sson.

I guess this is proof that Scott Summers is indeed Grant's fictionsuit.

Eclipse's Strange Days was never collected in the US, and Paradax had his own two or three issue series from Vortex, also never collected. Mile High's website says they have them:

(Strange Days also featured the mindnumbingly amazing FREAKWAVE strip by Milligan and McCarthy, which today still stands as one of the best things ever in the entire world. Earlier chapters were in something called Vanguard Illustrated in the US.)

Damn right about Freakwave, especially the Strange Days episodes.

Some of the most eye-burningly fantastic artwork I've seen in my life. Wish comic books paid enough for McCarthy to be arsed enough to draw some new ones some time.

The panel with the JFK head detaching from its moorings just about set off an aneurysm when I first saw it.

The PARADAX series was two issues, i believe. The first one was just a re-colored version of the story in STRANGE DAYS.
