So this was in TIME magazine today, the first look at Halle Berry as Catwoman:

The cat is finally out of the bag. HALLE BERRY slinks into a strapping new ensemble this week when filming starts in Vancouver for Catwoman. The Oscar-winning actress plays the Felonious Feline (see also: Princess of Plunder, Mistress of Malevolence) from the Batman series, a role made famous by Eartha Kitt in the '60s TV show and reinvented by a neoprene-clad Michelle Pfeiffer in 1992. Berry's leather cat suit for the 2004 film is "very bare, very urban, very downtown," she says. Her character, Patience Price, is a scientist at a cosmetics company who transforms into Catwoman — or should we say Sex Kitten?--to take on her nefarious boss, played by Sharon Stone. Benjamin Bratt as a detective is the love interest for Berry's Catwoman, who is both villainess and heroine. "She's not Superman," Berry says. "She's not trying to save the world." Instead, like a pampered house pet, Berry says, "Catwoman is out to save herself." Could be quite a purr-formance.

*groan* Am I the only one disappointed by the look of this so far? Catwoman as done by the local strip club. Why couldn't they have gone a route like this fan-construction. Cheaper and sleeker:

See, children, that's what happens when you let moths into your home! Look at poor Ms. Berry. Her pants are in an awful state! And her top is gone altogether!

So, maybe she's a lot better at controlling her whip than I am (I doubt it...), but man I'd be avoiding the exposed skin.... youch!

WOW this looks embarrassingly bad. I haven't heard ANYONE from any corner of the world say "What do you mean? This looks great!!" Yikes. This pic alone may seal this movie's doom months before it ever comes out. Why would designers think that costume works?? Why not just a simple leather costume with cat-ears??? Whoo boy.

For my money, just having a CATWOMAN movie with the lead character not being named Selina Kyle is a big mistake.

First major comic book movie bomb of the 2000s? (And no, I don't count HULK or DD as bombs, they made decent money and received mixed reivews) I think so. (PUNISHER could be the second big bomb if it sucks) I'm all for giving movies a chance and not judging them til they come out, but this Catwoman costume is just ** abominable ** !!!

I was SOOO sure this was a false rumor... then I re-read the 'in TIME' bit and looked about on the web... and rolled my eyes with frustration. On the Darwyn Cooke list, D. stated that this looked fake and it was silly, etc. What's frustrating is that the series is doing so well and it could be a very good film as the current feel of the new series by Brubaker and gang is a very film-like one.

But... Hollywood really did get me with this one. Sharon Stone as the villain? Open-toed shoes?? Did a 9 year old, a weasel and an old sock work on the production staff??? Do they really think this is a good idea??

Screw this. I'm getting on my Ambush Bug movie proposal. Anyone know Keith Giffen's number?

I waited until this was in the 3-for-a-pound video bin in Blockbuster. My God it's bad, not worth a pound. Even worse than Constantine. So, so bad, nearly Battlefield Earth bad.
