I don't know...remember that Watergate was a small breakin that became a thread that unraveled the entire Nixon Administration. Rove's lawyered up already, and he's also making public speeches after YEARS of staying behind the scenes, so they might be gearing up to have him become another Martyr, since it works very well on the right-wing to see their heroes under attack.
Rove's lawyer is also putting for the defense with phrases like "Rove does not believe he gave out any information", telling me that they'll use an ignorance defense.
Still, my reading of it is that the special prosecutor is looking pretty high up the food chain...and I'd be interested to know if Jeff Gannon will be brought up through all of this, as the far left leaning webpages are floating the idea that he's the one who leaked the info to the press on the request of Rove. |
