Treo: a cry for help

Tonight my much-abused, much-loved Treo 270 phone/PDA decided that it was too good for this world, and after jamming while receiving a text message and having a fatal exception, on being (soft) reset it started going into an endless loop of the opening Palm page flashing on and off. The only way to stop this was to press the power button, which then presented me with the option of erasing all my data.

I see from my records that the last time I hotsynced (downloaded the data) was over a month ago and I stand to lose a shitload of important dates, appointments, numbers, texts and information.

Please, please, I know I'm probably the only sucker to have bought one of these, but if anyone else owns one and knows a way to get my baby going again without performing a hard reset (and wiping ALL the information), I will buy you more drinks than you can possibly imagine.

Okay, maybe you've already tried this, WP, but here's a page I found on breaking out of infinite loops. The way this reads, there's something between a soft reset and a hard reset, a system reset. It doesn't specify if this erases your data, but anyway, give it a look-see if you haven't already.
