I saw him twice on the Outside tour and he waas fucking excellent- don't know what he's like since, but if the new album's anything to go by, he probably still SWEATS coolness.

So the new albums good, eh? I heard a song the other week which piqued my interest, but he's seemed a little inconsistent in recent years so I haven't looked any further.

Too biased to comment.

But I will anyway: if you have not seen him yet, you must. One of a kind and monstrously influential on just about all that has followed in his wake.

Not bad at all, what he's putting out now, and with any luck there will be some of the glories of old on the playlist.

Freak out in a moonage daydream, oh yeah...

...tickets go on sale Monday! I missed him the last time he was here (1994 w/NIN), and I think I have to go, just to see him once. And Heathen rocked.

Unfortunately, Macy Gray is opening, and her music makes me want to kill...

Well as I've gone on about over and over again, I saw him do a greatest hits show at Glastonbury 2000. It was the cap on the best festival I've ever been to. The highlight was just Bowie playing the piano for a stripped down version of Life on Mars. Go see him. He's great.

I saw Bowie in 98 and again last week. I wonder if he's capable of putting on a bad show? I believe he's in the states right now, then heading to asia and austrailia. If you've the chance, I highly recommend going. I'm generally not too interested in meeting celebrities, but I had the chance to meet him backstage after the show and he is as cool as we've been led to believe. Whether you've been a fan for years or have just heard of him now, GO.

Go! I almost went to see him a couple of weeks ago, but I was completelly out of my skull with the flu and this very nasty infection that had taken over my lungs. Friends were calling me on their cellies during the concert, which included songs like Life On Mars, Be My Wife, Heroes, Hang on to Yourself, Under Pressure, White Light, White Heat, Ashes to Ashes and the rest escapes me. Missing him has been the low point of this year for me, but knowing that my friend has just acquired tickets for the show in Toronto on April 1st, I have reason to smile again.

On a side note I got The Best of Bowie DVD for Christmas, all of dvd 1 is great, havnt bothered to watch the second disk yet, seems pretty iffy, cause it's mostly mid 80's to now.

Go and see him. I saw him at Pheonix in 96' I think on the Outside tour (and I love Outside) a brilliant, brilliant showman. Even if you're not to bothered about him go along for the spectacle.

Also he's very pretty, even now.

Went to the show last night here in Perth, Australia. Actually, I didn't pay the $150 it cost to go in, I was sitting outside by the river with more than 300 hundred other people. It bloody rocked but.

Only reason I didn't actually go in was because of the hell unreasonable ticket price. If it was around $100 I would have copped it, but $150 was a bit too much. But anyway, it was a great atmosphere right outside it with all the people. It was held at the Supreme Court Gardens, so you could hear it perfectly.

Whoever said he sweats coolness is dead on. At one point while talking to the crowd he said for the crowd in front to cheer, then everyone in the stand at the back, and then everyone in the park outside which got a good cheer. He also was going on about the Passion and how they based the look of Satan on him or something, which I did think when I saw the movie.

You have to go see him, and I'm just pissed I'm too poor at the moment not to have gone in to the concert, but it was still tops outside.

Interesting that you mention Bowie's resemblance to Satan in the Passion (which I haven't seen yet - I'm waiting for the double-dvd edition which comes with the remake of Sunset Boulevard in which Mel Gibson plays Sharon Stone's butler - sorry, weird tangent there, but a film in Aramaic? Surely it's gonna bomb. Ahem. I'm ill, you know.), because I have an acquaintance who swears that Bowie is actually the Antichrist. In all seriousness.

Just shows the extreme reactions people have to the man, I guess.

he is great live. one of those people who is a great performer. but, yeah, I didn't have $150 to see him this time around in New England.

he and NIN practiced for their US run of the Outside tour in the stadium where I went to college. so I got to meet them my first week of school. You could hear DB practicing clear across the campus. It was a nice welcome.

there was one time i went to see him in NY. We got horribly lost on the way and when we did finally arrive we found that the show had been cancelled due to mr. bowie having the flu.

Caught him recently in Brisbane, which was excellent. I'd suggest taking any opportunity to see him. The prices were unfortunately outrageous.... but I was just about the happiest boy in the world when "Always crashing in the same car" was first encore. In fact the three songs from the brilliant Low were a much appreciated surprise. If I have any complaints, which I do not, it was a shame that the venue was crap and I spent too much time and energy on hating the idiots around me. Although it was quite amusing at times to see how the older fans reacted to the new material.

Satan eh? untill the recent movies i had always thought Bowie was how Legolas would look.

The opening band for the Bowie concert here on Thursday is 'The Polyphonic Spree'. I've never heard of them... does anyone know if they're worth seeing?

The Polyphonic Spree are always worth a watch. They make you Smile and Laugh in equal mesure. Unlike Bowie whose only worthwhile contrbution to culture is the Goblin King in Labyrinth. Sorry. DANCE MAGIC DANCE.

Prego, you're insane! Bowie is one of the primary influences on popular culture today. I'm not just talking about so-called "gender bending" and strange music videos, but electro, bringing Kraftwerk-style production into the mainstream; glam, punky music twisted out of all recognition like hot iron; constant reinvention; collaborations with Lou Reed, Iggy Pop, the Stones - everyone who's anyone... He is a great man.

and he's dead sexy....

Yeah, Prego, you're nuts.

Bowie is the man... his only crime is that he lacks quality control. When someone's there (like Eno or Visconti) to actually say "David, this is great", or "David, this sucks ass", he's second to none. In the eighties, when he was basking in far too much adulation, nobody ever felt like giving the emperor sartorial tips. Resulting in some dreadful, dreadful things. He's since proved that he never lost it... he just needed the bad filtered out.

Um, without wishing to offend anyone, you might want to consider going to the bar during The Polyphonic Spree. It's just this feeling I have.

The Polyphonic Spree are - I think - really a festival band rather than an album band. They've really only done a couple of proper songs - the iconic one being Soldier Girl which is pretty awesome. The rest of their stuff is kind of uplifting and cool and all, but it's not so much the kind of stuff you'd want to listen to a lot. I can imagine they'd be great live though.

I saw Bowie a couple weeks ago. It was a kickass show. You should go. I went for the 'classics' but gained a whole new appreciation for the new Bowie stuff. Uncle Floyd...need I say more. The Polyphonic Spree was way too cheery for me. However their setup was pretty gimicky in an interesting way and I liked the unusual instrumentation. And for real...when are you gonna see like 20 people in one band on stage?
