Apparently the line "gonna send him to outer space/to find another race" comes from Scracth's obssession with beating up, or destroying the devil. He wanted to write a song about killing the devil and Max Romeo suggested just sending him to another planet or something(reference - Lee Scratch Perry Arkology box set liner notes).
I'm going to have to mention "Funky Kingston" by Toots and the Maytals on the classic reggae album front - it's like if James Brown had been Jamaican (I honestly believe it's that good). If you haven't heard it, well then you really should. |
