I'm not going to this and feel very, very guilty. I will, in fact be driving up the M1 in a car plastered with STWC/CND leaflets to show my support for the protest.

As I can't go with the crowd I'm starting this thread in the hope that many others will go and thus allow me to feel less bad. You better go you apathetic bastards, make it gigantic. Please.

I have a horrible feeling that this thread may turn into a list of people who can't make it.

I am working my arse off this week/weekend and just cannot make it. If I get more than 4 hours sleep between Friday and Saturday morning, it'll be a sign that there is truly a deity looking after me. Hmmm, complete madness I suspect is at work here.

If people can make it that would be very, very cool. Since the statement in the Press yesterday about the lack of NBCs and WMDs and the fact that there are NONE!!!!! I think it is really important to get out there and show the government and the rest of the world that we haven't forgotten their lies and bullshit and that we're not going to the quiet about it.

If I didn't need this job (and have part of my career resting on it's success) I would so be there!

So are any of you London lot able to make it? Gwan, Gwan, Gwan!

Me and Mordant will be there in spirit. In the sense that there will also be a protest in Barça which we *will* be going to.

Ganesh and I will carry a banner sixteen feet tall with all the non-attending Barbelites' names on it, don't worry. When our little feet tire, we will adjourn to some fine hostelry en route and drink lots of alcohol for you too.

I still have some concerns about the reversal of the route. I suspect expecting fewer people there might be behind the choice of Trafalgar Square for the rally but if we get a half decent turn out, the crowd control issues will be magnified by the confining architecture.

Grass (or the anaerobic desert soil it has now become) in Hyde Park probably needs a rest from the boots of the multitudes.

I'm really surprised the police have cleared the route. RTS used to have a lot of protests that ended there in the mid 90's and it was so chaotic- people in the fountains, hanging off the National Gallery and trying to climb Nelson's Column. It's never been the best place to end a march. I suspect they're trying to keep people clear of parliament and that's really to be frowned upon... we should be rubbing it in especially now we know there weren't any Weapons of Mass Destruction (hahaha).

Absolutely. After the somewhat dejected feel of the last march (war started, 60something percent in favour, etc., etc.), a little smugness wouldn't go amiss.

We've got other plans in the evening, but should manage to squeeze in a couple of 'absent friends' drrrinkies somewhere near Trafalgar Square.

Xoc, you are a truly noble and caring creature. The offer to down our share of pints as well as walk the pavement for us shows the generous spirit I have come to naturally attribute to you!

I hope the weather holds and will be thinking of you whilst negotiating the organisational madness that is inherent in the work I do. sigh!

I'll be there, and I'm not even going to be smug about it lest I get accused of 'leftier than thou' point-scoring. Does anyone want to meet up, if so, shall we say the Princess Louise for the sake of simplicity? Or do people have better ideas? I also have plans for later, but I can squeeze in 'Nesh and Xoc earlier in the evening. Ahem. And Quantum, have I even met you yet? Do come, the more the merrier, and we can celebrate the downfall of the oppressive neo-Nazi police state and the liberation of all the Ay-rabs. Or failing that, just get some preliminary saturday night brain damage in.

I'm going to try and make it, because I don't wan't to look like a wuss because I've said I'm going already . Where do people fancy meeting up at before hand? I'll PM for details.

Comrade Posters: but I can squeeze in 'Nesh and Xoc earlier in the evening

You say that now and we'll turn up all breathless and excited tomorrow and then you'll be too busy leading the charge up the Potemkin Steps, Bill, and we'll be forgotten about. I can see this will be just another protest march where I have to go home with the radical arse-bandit I came with. Sheesh.

And I think it's discriminatory starting the damn thing off at 12 noon. Discriminatory against queers. No self respecting London poof would be out of bed by noon on a Saturday. Give us a cheer as we bring up the rear then...

*puts serious face on again, in preparation for revolutionary fervour tomorrow*

Prob'ly a bit late to be posting this but... I had a really sucky night at work (fucking day shift wankers leaving me to clean up their shit... not Hattie's Kitchen, obviously, a different department entirely) and am therefore REAL fucking tired and have had no sleep yet so won't make it.

Anyone who hasn't left yet- take care, have fun, and shout some slogans for me. And keep an eye out for my mate Richard (lilly's husband- a fair few of you have met him before) cos he's going.

Let us know how it went...

George Bush to say "I'm sorry, you were right all along, I'm a useless fuck." Tony Blair has gone into hiding and left the country to be run by Tony Benn, which will save money on the initialised stationery and laundry bill. And all because we were such a fierce sight as we did our pimp roll down Piccadilly.

Pity not to manage to meet up with any 'Loids, didn't have the relevant mobs and so we ended up at the front, hungover as hell, got the thing over with asap and headed off for much-needed hair of the dog. (So there go my revolutionary credentials. Again.)

Give us a cheer as we bring up the rear then...

Good to hear you guys were, er, right behind me.

which will save money on the .. laundry bill.

Um, Xoc, am I to infer that you know something about the state of Tony's sheets which we don't?
