Wooden or steel?

this sunday was spent doing one of my very top 5 favorite things to do: riding roller coasters

wooden, steel, a zillion loops spins turns or even ultra tame, smooth or rough, standing sitting dangling, I love them all, and haven't sampled nearly enough to sate me.

so what's youre preference? or do you hate them with a passion? are you afraid, do they make you ill, tell me, please.

or have you never ridden one at all? why not? surely you're tempted to break your coaster cherry and come join me for a halloween-time visit to a theme park or two?

man, I can't believe none of you are jazzed about roller coasters. they're ROLLER COASTERS! what could be better?

next you're all going to shoot down my proposal for special "the joy of swingsets" and "bubble gum studies" forums. bastards

i frickin love roller coasters.

Wooden: tend to knock the head around and give minor whip-lash. scary in a notsofunimightjustfallout kinda way.

Give me the fast, dangling, with lots of loops type. my top choice roller coaster to date is the Dueling Dragons at the Universal Studios Islands of Adventure in Florida (my friend who lives on Orlando got some free passes last summer). Two coasters going at the same time, a twelve inch near-miss where it looks like they are going to crash into each other. AND THEY'RE DRAGONS.

Rock.

oooh, that looks nice. I really enjoy when you get the feeling of a near miss with something that could easily and very messily rip your head off at that speed.

but I kind of like feeling like I just got my ass kicked when I get off of a coaster. I also like that woozy off-kilter feeling you can only get from really fast and loopy rides.

for me, wooden rides are best experienced in the back car, where you get whipped around most and feel more like you might just be throw right out of the damned thing. in steel, the best car is the front, because there's nothing blocking the view of your drop.

this was my favorite of this park's rides - it's not the fastest, but it goes from twist to loop really rapidly with little straight track.
