What the fuck is a USB multibay cradle?

Received one in the mail just this minute...Very weird. I didn't order it. Any idea what it's for?

You know what USB is, right? It's the small, flat plug that you might have on the computer end of the cables for your mouse, keyboard, printer, joystick etc.

As far as I can work out, what you have is a thing to plug multiple USB plugs into a single socket so you don't have to keep plugging and unplugging. I don't think it's very useful unless you have a ridiculous amount of different accessories.

It also makes the USB sockets more accessible if they're on the back of your machine.

I used one in the UK. But then, I did have a webcam, scanner, USB keyboard, CD burner and digicam running through it.

We of the Island States of Yiao often send out USB multibays to random people. It pleases us to do this as a form of Techno Gyana Yoga - an object triggering a confusion which enlightens.

And if it doesn't, at least you've got a useful piece of kit almost no one thinks of buying.
