Are you running Quake.exe or Winquake.exe? You really need winquake, should be on the id site as a patch. XP has no DOS support so the former won't work.

Correction: that might be why the former doesn't work.

People still play Quake? Jeez-aloo, I am so out of it.

XP's a bloody nightmare. It tries to save everything in 'my pictures'. Bloody irritating piece of trash.

Don't know about Quake, but I'd say it's an over-simplification to say there's no DOS support in XP. Lots of things do work, though Paleface's suggestion of using the Windows version would be the way to go anyway, I think.

What do you mean by "cutting out"? What messages do you get?

BTW, Maybe it's part of the Home Edition "experience," but XP's "Find" really is the most annoyingly dumbed-down piece of poo. I don't use XP at home and I don't miss it.

Erk. Yes- I miss the normal find buttons which searched for everything. With XP I have to damn well search 3 times to find a file and god, don't even get me started on the cookies folder. It's crap I tell you, crap!

I wouldn't call it crap as such because it's never let me down ... badly.

The standard colour scheme really got my goat though. I instantly thought, "don't patronise me with your primary colours you motherfucker, I don't want you to be friendly, I want you to work." Why should I trust something that looks like it was built by Fischer-Price?
