Well, today, September 17, we are treated to three deluxe renditions of Quitely. To wit:
1) Endless Nights: His Destiny story is completely gorgeous. It's a bit light as a story goes, but who gives a fuck. It's gorgeous. Water-colored. Has anyone seen the Endless poster he did? With Michael Jackson as Desire? It was reprinted in that Endless Nights preview book last week. Gorgeous. Also, if anyone's gotten the book, in Quitely's bio, does anyone recognize that little drawing of all those people that he did and where I might be able to find it? It's probably just a little notebook sketch but it looks GardenerGalaTacular.
2) Absolute Authority Vol. 2. Although he was often mired by shitty inking, I still love an ass-load of the work he did on this book (that opening spread of the Giant Man dude with his legs shorn off and teensy tiny guys walking around on him). And we get bonus super-sized Art Adams. Who hasn't been waiting for that since Uncanny X-Men Annual #10?
3) New X-Men Vol. 2. Oh man, am I glad they started digitally darkening his pencils. The details you get in the last issues of Riot are out of control. And they've got a bonus making of section with two chunks of the script to the final issue of Riot and there are [Classified!] spots in the script that are [Encrypted!], i.e. the part where Xorn pushes the cement truck ("He doesn't [Encryption Intiated!]"). In otherwords, Grant explicitly pointed out that Xorn is using his [Encrypted!] powers. No QQ Death Scene script though. That would have required way too much [Encryption!] I guess.
So, Quitely fans, sell some DVDs and enjoy. |
